Being new to NO from DC and open to recommendations from locals who enjoy great coffee and support small businesses, TOC came highly recommended. Unfortunately, I could never recommend this place because the customer service Cameron served today(8/7/23) was extremely unprofessional and it demonstrated a lack of emotional intelligence times 1,000. Typically on my first visit to a coffee shop I am open to trying the house brew(I really enjoy the bean over everything) or whatever beverage makes the shop unique in the sea of "great" coffee shops throughout NO. Well, I guess Cameron didn't feel like doing his job today. After taking time to review the menu, I had questions. However, Cameron felt the need to refer me to the menu 3 times to avoid answering the simple question, "Is the Vietnamese coffee a premade mix and if so, does it have dairy in it(I'm lactose intolerant so it's a valid concern.) and what other cold coffee drinks do you offer(there is no cold coffee listed on the menu)." Always a good idea to ask vs. assume. It was then that Cameron became grossly rude and stated that I was an "energy vampire" and "on one"... excuse me...come again...can you define what you mean by "on one" 'cause this is faaaaar from what it means to be "on one" since you took it there. My guess is Cameron wasn't a fan of me asking him to define "on one" in a calm tone. It was clear that he was in fact a dream killer and his energy wreaked like Bourbon St. after a wild hot night. To add insult to injury, Cameron turned to his female friend whom he had been holding a personal conversation with prior to me being ready to order and asked if she'd prefer to continue their conversation outside because he wasn't about that life. Running to escape the confrontation which he had created. Somehow, I bet this type of behavior doesn't generate maximum profit for TOC and certainly doesn't create a welcoming vibe.
Cameron, life is short and you set the tone for your personal happiness and...
Read moreI recently visited The Orange Couch and had a truly appalling experience.
From the moment we interacted with the barista, we were met with hostility. He was incredibly mean and even went as far as to insult us. When we requested an additional cup, he began yelling, claiming it wasn't eco-friendly.
Shockingly, he then poured my friend's drink down the sink, despite her having done nothing to provoke such behavior. As my third friend tried to de-escalate the situation, the barista continued to yell and demanded that we leave the shop. The situation escalated to the point where other clients, who seemed to be friends of the barista, started filming us.
To make matters worse, my friend was openly insulted on the barista’s social media afterward. I have proof of this behavior and can provide evidence if needed. This behavior is absolutely nonsensical and unprofessional.
I have never encountered such disrespectful, racist, and aggressive behavior in my life, especially not in my 10+ years living in Europe. This incident was not only upsetting but also unacceptable.
I have attempted to contact the owner multiple times to discuss this matter but have received no response. This lack of communication only adds to the disappointment and frustration. The behavior of the staff is disgraceful, and I urge others to think twice before visiting.
I am available to discuss this incident...

We met today, and I was able to see that the experience I had with this Barista was not a true representation of the culture of the coffeehouse. Based on my meeting with the owner, I've average my experience and adjusted my stars. The owner and worker I experienced today was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Was just in The Orange Couch the server (Camron) was very rude. I was waiting for service, to be acknowledge, as I'm closing out a phone call. I'm standing at the register, now I've decided what I want, A lady walks up behind me, Carmon gets up and walks to the register and looks over me and ask her, her order. I state that I am in front of her (Camron) ignored me and I repeat myself and he says you're on the phone. I said well, no one came up to Greet me and no one was at the register. He says, well I said Hi ( mind you he was sitting in a low chair behind the counter) all the time while not looking at me. Is this the behavior of my neighborhood coffee shop? Could Cam'ron have had better customer service and handle it better as oppose to making me feel like I wasnt wanted in the establishment? Time it happen March 12, 2024 at 3:30 pm. I wrote this...
