This place is absolutely fantastic, worth crossing neighborhoods for. The service is warm and personal, the ambience and decor are lovely and deeply charming, and the food is incredible. (If you're familiar with Georgian cuisine, this is some of the best I've had; if you're not, you really should try it, because it's both unique/distinctive, and completely accessible: everything is brilliantly seasoned but nothing is too spicy or "weird". It's a real crowd-pleaser of a regional cuisine and surprisingly underexplored in much of New York.) We had a bit of everything - special mentions to the khinkali (a sort of savory soup dumpling), the pkhali (a spinach/walnut mince that everyone needs to taste at least once in their life), and the chkmeruli (a creamy garlic chicken dish that, tbh, could probably tempt the popular Marry-Me chicken into an extramarital affair). We probably ordered like ten different things and they all tasted fantastic. The cooking is profoundly competent, possibly because every dish is made by someone who specializes in precisely that dish.
The desserts were ridiculously good, too. Their take on the classic Napoleon blows most French bakeries out of the water. Their take on baklava (it's not what you think when you think of baklava) is ambrosial.
Come hungry, because the portions are substantial - but if you do have leftovers, they reheat wonderfully the next day. No dietary restrictions for us, but I spotted quite a few yummy-sounding vegan options, which I plan to try next time. Truly, one of the best new restaurant discoveries I've made in the last several years. Kudos to...
