12/16/17 - I'm in from out of town. I checked with the local alumni club and this is THE Purdue alumni bar. I figured, "Great! I'll go watch the Purdue game, have some lunch and drinks, and meet some other alums."
The game tipped at noon, right when they open, so I was there waiting for the doors to open. The bartender appeared to be the only guy on the floor. He opened the door at noon, and finished setting up. When he returned to the bar, I asked if he could turn on the game audio (he was playing music). He replied, "Probably not."
Probably not?! I'm the only guy sitting in this bar. So I inquire further, "I checked with my alumni association. I thought this was the Purdue Bar?"
He stated that it was and they have a large Purdue following and that they do sometimes turn on the game audio, but they get fans from all teams in and that he wouldn't be turning on the game audio.
I totally understand being impartial to all their guests, BUT I'M THE ONLY PATRON IN THE ENTIRE BAR!
I replied as I stood up and put on my coat, "You know, I think I'll just go back to the hotel and watch the game where I can listen to it."
He replied, "Well, if that's how you feel."
I hope this review makes it to the owner and I'll definitely be reporting the interaction to the local alumni...
Read moreI threw a surprise birthday party / open bar here last Saturday night and it was absolutely electric!! The experience with booking the event through Eat Drink & Be Merry was completely seamless - Christine and team helped me every step of the way even with the smallest of details. The night came and the staff and management were incredible, the bar staff were wearing the party hats I'd bought for everyone, ringing the bell, pouring drink into my boyfriends mouth during his speech (!), doing shots with us... Needless to say they were fully into the party spirit bringing SO much energy and fun. Also, VERY tolerant of 90 drunk people doing things like letting off confetti canons for the big surprise (sorry again guys...!). Couldn't fault anything and would recommend doing an open bar / party here in a heartbeat - honestly hope we can do it again. Thanks again to the team at 3 Sheets, Gabriel, Aine, + many more... thanks so much for a special night, you guys...
Read moreMy friend visited here for Pride a few years ago and was approached by some drunk and rowdy people that were looking for a problem. My friends tried to de-escalate the situation but then one of the people reached into their bag and slashed her with a sharp object in her neck before running away, causing her to bleed profusely. She could have died and when we tried to go after the people who did it so they could be held responsible, the bouncer held us back let them run out the building. And to “make up for it” the bartender offered us a free shot. Overall this was a failure on the establishment in safety, accountability, and preventative measures. I would advise anyone thinking about coming here to go somewhere else where the establishment actually CARES about people and ensuring everyone can have a good time while...
