Been hearing about this place for a while and wanted to know what the hype is all about. Being in the vicinity, I finally decided to try out Adel's halal and honestly it was worth it. You'll be greeted by a long waiting line and the wait time exceeds over an hour so one must definitely be patient enough for their turn to grab the food! Even the people passing the cart were asking about what the people were waiting for? Only to be surprised to know about the cart!

Coming over to the food, one can smell its aroma from a little distance and that's where the hunger kicks in, being a cart it definitely doesn't have any ambiance/atmosphere as such or can say the vibe is lively given the location they are based! The service is good and they try to deliver food quickly to you! The best part is they do accept card payment. Initially I had to ask them regarding this before waiting in the line as I didn't carry any cash!

I ordered chicken over a saffron rice platter with fries and sauce on the side. The fries were crispy enough whereas the chicken was nicely marinated in spices and was really flavorful and tender, didn't expect it to be this tasty! The basmati rice was fluffy and moist enough with the right amount of saffron flavor in it whereas the pita bread was really soft but I didn't understand why they put it in the bottom of the platter, took a while to realize it was there! The white sauce was really good too, I don't think I have tasted a better white sauce than this whereas the red sauce was mildly spicy which I felt was the best at least according to my taste buds!

Overall it was a great experience and I did understand why this place currently is on the top of halal cart pyramid than the Halal guys who share a rich legacy about the same in NYC! I hope to try out their spicy rice someday while also hoping they keep their...

some of the simplest yet tastiest Middle Eastern-esque food is probably served at Adel’s. and even beyond that—it’s more satisfying and comforting eats than most of the boring sit-down restaurants in the area. as the adage goes: don’t judge a book by its cover or an eatery by the size of its grill (or lack of seats) for that matter.

there’s literally nothing on the menu at Adel’s that misses—chicken over rice, lamb over rice, combo over rice, falafel pita, gyro sandwiches, french fries and mo’. recently, got the chicken over rice (you can choose plain, spicy or a mix of both—get the spicy or mixed rice!). pita slices are layered under the rice. there some salad crammed in. of course, it all gets topped in a tangy white sauce and hot sauce if you want. all of this food is crammed into a recyclable container. the chicken is tender yet has that grilled smoky savoriness. the spices are soaked into every bite of the chicken. the spicy rice is layered with spices and has a lil’ heat. the cooling white sauce and spicy hot sauce are that bold punch that sinks downward into the chicken, rice, pita, etc. the meat over rice platter are $8. sandwiches are about that price or less. the food continues to be flawlessly simple and satisfying complex as street foods often are. substance over flash, kiddos!

the staff are super friendly and upbeat fluctuating conditions temperature, rain, wind, etc. tip them well. all that said, there’s typically a line for Adel’s—it’s just a testament to the popularity of the food. if there’s a superlong line, you may want to consider coming back bc it does take a while as the guys here don’t rush orders but do try to keep things moving.
