LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! Perfectly placed on 49th St just a close walk to Times Square and Broadway. Just about a mile or less from many attractions. Convenient to CVS for bottled waters and snacks. Convenient to many eateries. We loved Juniors (a nice sit down affordable dining experience) and Rays Pizza (a family favorite).
The hotel's kitchenetts are perfect for families on a budget. We were able to store left overs and make breakfast each morning. The rooms are clean and spacious. I couldn't get over how spacious the rooms were. I'm very picky when it comes to cleanliness and Radio City Apartments did not disappoint. Everything was clean.
I had read some reviews about the air flow - so we packed a fan. There were no issues with room temperature or air flow. The window units are nice, quiet and do the job well. I was worried about the noise being so close to Times Square - we never loss any sleep due to noise. We couldn't hear hallway noise or neighbors. No noise issues or complaints at all.
The maid service was phenomenal. Every single day they came and made beds and left fresh linens. The mattress made some noises, but was overall comfortable. The building has age, but the building is kept up very well. The elevator was timely when we needed it. The stairs can be a bit confusing at first and how to get to the lobby, but no complaints really. The entire facility was great.
We visited for Fleet Week (May) to see our son...our one bedroom with a pull out sofa accommodated five adults very well (even considering the small double beds). My only advice is make sure you look at your accommodations for bed size. I didn't realize double beds were smaller than queens. Honestly I never knew. My husband is 6' and I'm a larger woman - we still didn't have problems sleeping. But next time we book I will pay closer attention to bed size.
Radio City Apartments & NYC- thank you for allowing our family such a wonderful stay. We had a blast! And we...
Read moreThis has been the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I’m not high maintenance and I’m not picky but when I pay nearly $200 per night, I expect to at least have my room cleaned and decent hotel staff.
Earlier when I left the hotel, I put the “please make up room” sign on my doorknob. When I returned tonight, it was changed to “do not disturb” and when I opened the door, my room had not been cleaned. I complained to the front desk and he looked at me like I was stupid and in a super unfriendly manner, said he would send someone to check my room. Someone came but somehow we had a misunderstanding - I thought she was there to clean my room and she thought I did not want to be disturbed. I don’t know what happened. But she left. So I went downstairs to complain and ask for a discount, he super rudely said “no.” He sent the maid back upstairs and he came with her and they questioned me about if I want my room cleaned. I said “yes.” And the two of them proceeded to argue loudly out in the hallway in Spanish for about 5 minutes. I felt horribly confused and stressed. He never apologized for the lack of cleaning, yelling at his staff in front of me, or any part of the situation. The maid seemed kind, but she made up my bed with the same gloves she used to clean the toilet and now I’m thinking of just leaving this hell hole.
Also:
On day 1, I had someone’s vomit or poop in my toilet. It was coming from inside the commode.
Shower water pressure is low and the water only gets warm, not hot.
Walls and carpet are super gross and old.
For the price I paid, these things are inexcusable. If you want good customer service and a clean hotel, don’t stay here.
*edited to add 1 service star for Jamie, the nice front desk guy who called my room to make sure the room...
Read moreIf you need trendy decor, glamour and glitz, then this place is not for you. If you want lots of space (by NY standards) in a very clean one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen and very attentive staff in an outstanding location, then this is your spot. It is also very reasonably priced (again, by NY standards).
The decor in the unit itself was dated and a little worn but appeared to be very clean. Again, I am not buying it, I just needed a place to stay. I didn't come here to hang out in the room. There are two separate subway stations, Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, a CVS, a small grocery store, the NBC studios and dozens of places to eat all within two blocks of this place. It worked out great for our stay.
Our unit had a separate bedroom with two double beds, a small living room with a fold out sofa, a small but fully equipped kitchen and a nice bathroom. Everything was super clean, more than enough towels, dishes etc. The sofa bed was even decently comfy for a sofa bed. This is one of the few places I found that advertised room for three adults that actually had three separate beds, a necessity for a dad, son and daughter on vacation.
The only negatives I experienced- there are only two tiny elevators for 14 floors, and one was out of order. That was a bit inconvenient. Also, NYC is loud...all the time. We were on the sixth floor but you could still hear traffic noise and construction pretty clearly. This of course is not the hotel's fault but is something to be aware of. It wasn't horrible but it was there.
All in all a great experience and value. This is where I will stay anytime I am in...
