Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in New York

Food is great and the waitress was great but I do have complaints towards the Manager here at this location. He’s very money hungry and is a liar. To get more in detail and explain what happened, my husband and I had a coupon clearly from their website stating if you spend “$15+ , you will receive a free appetizer” Don’t get me wrong, we are not the norm to use coupons and don’t mind paying anything but receiving this by email and double checking on their location and website on the coupon to make sure it was accurate, we saw this as a great offer. We had all intentions of spending more than $50 anyways. When we showed the coupon to the waiter, she showed it to the manager and he came to us saying it says to remove $15 off. Coupon did not say that at all so we showed him the coupon once again proving with the wording that this was not stated. After this he had an attitude (clearly trying to make more $$ and make us feel dumb) and said fine. He consistently kept making comments to his staff and looking towards our direction.

Fast forward, when it’s time for our check to come, they once again requested for the coupon code which we provided and kept rushing our server to hurry up. He was clearly rude to his staff, inpatient, and disrespectful.

The server returned with our coupon and tell us “code can not be processed because balance is 0”CLEARLY finding another excuse not to use it and they clearly processed the coupon before putting in any of our $15+ purchases in so it wouldn’t work.

Spouse and I got exhausted with the back and forth, so we decided to just pay in full. Manager were super driven to be paid and continue to find excuses.

Once again, not common at All for me to ever leave a bad review but this left a bad taste in my mouth especially how poor management this is. Horrible manager. Horrible customer service. We arrived approximately at 9:00 P.M. We were part of the Hilton that is glued to the Applebee, and our experience as french tourists was amazing. Our waitress Kateryna was so nice, gentle and smiling. She was not too much and knows her job really well. The atmosphere was really catchy, versatile : it’s either you watch sports on TV or games like « Don’t forget the lyrics », and there’s also music. GOOD music. The food that was served to us was succulent. The strawberry/mango cocktail was thick, but it didn’t stop me from drinking it, as it was so refreshing. We had the grilled salmon with the broccolis and mashed potatoes. I used to be a big fan of broccolis when I was younger, but I think I ate too much so now it’s becoming a bit difficult for me to eat some, didn’t stop me from eating them all lol. However, I’m a HUGE fan of all forms of potatoes and these were just perfect ! Same for the grilled salmon, that was cooked well. Finally, for the desserts, my mother and uncle took the chocolate fondant with a vanilla ice cream, they just loved it ! They ate everything, just as me, who had a scoop of vanilla ice cream + they added some strawberries ☺️ Well, I think we enjoyed our time during our vacations in NYC, especially at the Applebees. I was so excited to eat there, and I was not disappointed 🤤 BTW : Kateryna was so lovely, exceptional, but of course the rest of the team, even if it wasn’t our servers, were perfect ! I went into this Applebee's on multiple times. I always go to the bar. I went on Monday December 30th around 9:00pm and I have a promotion in my email for a free pick 6 Monday. It was for free boneless wings. When I showed the male bartender he turned to his female coworker and asked her if they can use it. She said they aren't doing promotions for the holiday. The email clearly states I could pick up or dine-in and get the boneless wings. My friend and I spent well over 100 dollars for drinks and wings that were to supposed be free. When I looked online I was allowed to place an order for pick up but your workers were refusing to let me sit and eat with drinks and a tab of 100 dollars. We paid in cash for that time. I didn't ask for the manager because the friend I was with at the time asked me not to as my friend has anxiety. On another occasion there the workers also didn't want my friend and I to order from the menu that you can get two meals and an appetizer for about 40 bucks. The lady at the bar said they had nothing like that and I had to pull up the online menu and show the bar tender. She still refused to give the menu. It wasn't until I asked for the manager that she pulled out the menu with the two meals and the appetizer. This Applebee's really tries to get as much money out of you as possible and it really messes up the experience if a worker doesn't know what they offer they should be trained better.I'm still upset about not getting my...
