Aladdin on Broadway is a dazzling spectacle that masterfully blends nostalgia with fresh, innovative performances. From the moment the curtain rises, the vibrant colors, intricate set designs, and stunning costumes transport the audience straight into the magical world of Agrabah.
The show stays true to the spirit of the beloved Disney film, but it also brings something new to the table. The musical numbers are as catchy and uplifting as ever, with classics like "A Whole New World" and "Friend Like Me" being clear crowd favorites. The choreography is energetic and dynamic, keeping the audience engaged from start to finish.
One of the standout aspects of Aladdin is the incredible talent of the cast. The actor playing the Genie, in particular, steals the show with his comedic timing, charisma, and powerful voice. His performance is both hilarious and heartwarming, making him an absolute highlight. The leads portraying Aladdin and Jasmine are equally impressive, delivering strong vocal performances and bringing genuine chemistry to their roles.
The show also introduces some new songs and characters that fit seamlessly into the story, enhancing the overall experience rather than detracting from the original material. These additions help flesh out the narrative and provide more depth to the characters.
Visually, Aladdin is nothing short of breathtaking. The production makes excellent use of stagecraft, with mesmerizing special effects that make the magic carpet ride, in particular, a moment of pure wonder. The lighting and sound design further enhance the immersive quality of the show, making it feel as though you're truly stepping into a fantastical world.

We just had an absolutely incredible time watching Aladdin at the New Amsterdam Theatre. It’s a show that bursts with energy and magic, and seeing it in such a historic venue was truly special. The theatre itself is a spectacle. From the moment you walk in, you're struck by its stunning Art Nouveau architecture and palpable history. The ornate carvings and majestic dome create a real sense of occasion. While this historic charm is its greatest asset, you can see that the grand old building is showing its age in places and could certainly benefit from some renovation to restore it to its full, dazzling glory. The show itself, however, is flawless. Aladdin is an absolute feast for the senses, from the vibrant costumes to the incredible sets. The cast was phenomenal, but the true showstopper is the Genie, whose performance was a masterclass in comedic timing and boundless energy. The "Friend Like Me" number was a jaw-dropping spectacle that earned a massive ovation. Of course, the magic carpet ride during "A Whole New World" was breathtakingly beautiful and lived up to every expectation. The only other slight drawback was the logistics of managing the crowd. Both entering before the show and departing at the end felt quite congested and chaotic; the process for access and departure could definitely be smoothed out to make the experience more seamless. Despite these minor points, they didn't detract from the magic on stage. Aladdin is a phenomenal production that will delight everyone. We highly recommend it for a fantastic night on Broadway—just be prepared for the historic character of the building and the...
Read moreBefore you read this , yes, it's 3 stars . Yes, it should be 5 stars , but there are reasons it can not be. The theatre just from walking to it is 2 blocks away from the port authority terminal, perfect, right? That's about it on the plus... the city has gone downhill big time. The rumors are true, the filth , the fragrance, the homeless sleeping, and/or begging are at pandemic proportions. It is heartbreaking that the media is truly hiding this completely. That's not a good start, but we move on... took my daughter for their 1st city trip as a family. Creating memories!!! On to the theater itself, lights!, camera! (NO CAMERAS!!!), ACTION! Wait ✋️ daddy is 6'5". No way and no how, can I fit my legs in the row. I felt so bad for the young lady in front of me. My knees were against the back of her head. The people next to you are so close that you shared touches that should be kept in the privacy of your home. Ok, bad stuff over. We all can get past that now. Rest is 5 star and above! Aladin!!! A must-see, i must say! The theatrics, the thespians, the stage movement , and visual structures... 5 STAR! THE GENIE !!! Makes the show. The magic carpet scene , Best! I was not thrilled about going at all , I'm so glad I did. Even after all the issues , I would definitely recommend seeing this show. Look past it all and go create memories ✨️, but be safe 🙏 look around , head on a swivel, and stay close together on the journey to the theater. A man was arrested right outside for threatening to stab someone while going up and down the street with a knife in his hand. The city is terrible, not...
