Having experienced the enchanting magic of Disney's Aladdin on Broadway, I can confidently say that it is an absolute must-see for theatergoers of all ages. This vibrant and dazzling production takes the beloved animated film to new heights, transporting the audience to a world of wonder, humor, and heart.
From the moment the curtain rises, the stage comes alive with a kaleidoscope of colors, intricate set designs, and breathtaking special effects. The city of Agrabah is beautifully realized, taking the audience on a mesmerizing journey through bustling markets, grand palaces, and the Cave of Wonders. The seamless blending of stagecraft and visual effects creates a truly immersive experience, making you feel like you're soaring on a magic carpet yourself.
The cast of Aladdin is nothing short of stellar. The performers breathe life into the iconic characters, staying true to their animated counterparts while infusing their own charisma and talent. Aladdin's charm and earnestness, Jasmine's strength and determination, and Genie's comedic brilliance, all come together to make this a truly unforgettable ensemble.
Speaking of Genie, the show's showstopper is undoubtedly the portrayal of the larger-than-life Genie. The Genie's numbers are a whirlwind of energy, laughter, and audience interaction that bring the theater to life.
The music, a delightful fusion of the classic songs from the animated film along with newly composed pieces, is performed impeccably by a talented orchestra. From the toe-tapping "Friend Like Me" to the heartwarming "A Whole New World," each song is a showpiece, and you'll find yourself humming these tunes long after the final curtain call.
While Aladdin is undoubtedly a visual and auditory feast, it also delivers a poignant message about being true to oneself, finding courage in the face of adversity, and the power of love and friendship. These universal themes resonate deeply, leaving the audience with both a sense of joy and reflection.
However, no review would be complete without mentioning the costumes and choreography. The intricate and luxurious costumes transport the audience to a world of opulence, with vibrant colors and intricate designs that add an extra layer of charm to the overall experience. The choreography is sharp, dynamic, and expertly executed, making the musical numbers pure joy to watch.
In conclusion, Aladdin on Broadway is a magical extravaganza that leaves audiences spellbound from start to finish. Whether you're a die-hard Disney fan or simply seeking a night of pure entertainment, this show is an absolute gem that will transport you to a world of fantasy and wonder. Don't miss the chance to witness this theatrical masterpiece and make unforgettable memories that will...
ย ย ย Read moreThis was a fabulous adaption from the Disney version of the story. From start to end, I was engaged with the performances, set design, and musical numbers.
I went to see this show on Sunday, April 27th at 3pm and it was a packed house. My mother and I sat in the mezzanine center, row AA, seats 101 and 102. These tickets cost $423.50, and it's worth the price.
If you get these seats, you'll be at the very front of mezzanine's premium seating, with nobody in front to block your view. However, these seats can also be very tight for those who are tall like myself. As a 5'8 woman, my knees felt pretty compressed between the seats and the wall, so my movement was pretty limited. Having guests sitting beside you doesn't help with comfort, but what more can you do with a old theatre that's been open since 1903? Almost every seat is bound to be too close to other guests, so might as well spend that extra money to get a better view of the show.
The employees were kind and patient, especially one man who was confronted by an aggressive guest. I felt bad for him, but I also admired how he didn't waver from his composure- that's the mark of a stellar employee.
The show itself was wonderful for people of all ages. The actors did their part in bringing the magical story to life. I want to give a special shout out to Marcus Shane who played, "Iago" and Michael James Scott who played, "Genie." These two stood out to me as being incredibly funny and entertaining. The vocal ranges these two had to do was nothing short of incredible.
I think this is a great musical to see with family, friends, or even solo. I'd recommend it to people visiting New York City for the first time, who have a passion for the arts. Watching "Aladdin" on broadway will be like stepping into a whole new world of...
ย ย ย Read moreThis is the best Broadway Play I have seen in a long time. The costumes were amazing. We sat close, and they were clean and very well made and beautiful. The performers were excellent. It was funny, entertaining, and magical. Can't say enough about the play itself. However, the downside of it was the way the theatre handed double booking of seats. Don't ever get your tickets from a reseller such as Stubhub(we used). They double booked the seats. While we were there way before show started and was comfortably seated along with another group that got their tickets thru another resale. 5 mins before show started we were pulled out of our seats and brought to security office where they checked our tickets and said sorry but ok go back to seats. We got to the seats and then they came again and told us we had to move. Now we had row E 101 and 102. Right up front which we paid for. They pulled us out again and wanted to put us in chairs in back of theatre... not even regular seating. We were upset and they found us 2 seats in row for all the way on right side of theatre in corner. While I understand things happen we were there 1st and because they had someone more aggressive and nasty we paid the price. We interrupted people 3 times and missed 1/2hr of the show and had to squeeze by a bunch of people during the show. Which is extremely rude and something I would never do. Never buy resale tickets it's not worth it and hopefully if it happens to you the theatre handles it better than what they did to.us.
I didn't get more pictures as we were too busy being...
