Tonight I came by to have some dinner with my family, and we had a great waitress named Caitlyn. She was friendly, and attentive.
Unfortunately, due to a high volume of customers and orders tonight, it seemed that the staff was backed up and had to do multiple tasks on top of waiting tables, which seems very unfair to the workers. Waiting on tables isn't easy, especially if you have impatient customers, and having to pull wait staff to do multiple tasks is inefficient.
I know the service industry is taking a big hit with lack of staff, or maybe even multiple call outs on the same shift, however management really needs to find other ways to compensate for high volumes of customers at a dinner rush. Throwing your staff in the fire and having them do 100 tasks at once is a great way to cause mistakes, and undue stress, which is probably why it's understaffed to begin with. Stop stressing and overworking staff, it's pathetic.
It was hard to watch and I felt bad for our server, who despite having to do a bunch of tasks at once, she kept a great attitude and never hesitated to communiate and update my table as we waited for the food. She was great, and I hope management is aware of having a worker like her in their establishment. But, really, stop forcing 5 people to do the jobs of 10+ people. You're gonna keep having high turnover once the good workers know their worth.
Keep up the good work, Caitlyn! You deserve the recognition for your hardwork. Totally awesome!!
I came here with my family, and we enjoyed the outdoor dining. It was such a lovely day, and just perfect for sitting outside. The staff is friendly, and supper attentive. Food came out really quickly too!
I forgot the waiter's name, but he is a tall man, wears glasses. And he was just great! So informative and kind. Will be coming back in...
Read moreCame to pick up orders from shoe stores and stopped by to get something to eat and a drink before heading home. This is our little go to spot when we visit this mall. We sat at the bar and ordered the usual appetizers and mucho long islands since it was happy hour. After the first drink, my husband ordered another one and when the bartender (Big Al) brought it, it was not the same as the first. It was VERY dark and we could compare because I wasn’t even halfway thru my drink yet and mine was so much lighter than his. Granted she is VERY busy and managing the bar and tables as well, but when he brought it to her attention, she was VERY rude and made a scene saying she goes off a chart they use to make drinks. She then said LOUDER that oh well sorry sir I put the same amount of alcohol in it as the last and we were trying to tell her it wasn’t the alcohol but the entire drink was a different shade from my drink as well. She took it and said well give me a minute and I will make you another one. She came back after 5 minutes and apologized and said that SHE misjudged how much Cola she poured into the drink. I get that but at the same time she caused a scene and had everyone sitting around looking at us because she chose to raise her voice about a drink we were calmly trying to bring to her attention. My husband works in a big restaurant and knows the ins and outs of FOH (front of house) and BOH (back of house) and how things go and for her to be belligerent and nasty when we didn’t let her mistake be known around us is crazy. Definitely will think twice before visiting here again since it left such a sour taste in my mouth. I’m literally writing this as we sit here because I lost my appetite being...
Read moreUpon visiting the Staten Island Mall Applebee's, I found myself contemplating the complexities of existence and the dichotomy of flavors that unfolded before me. The menu, while diverse, left me searching for psychological equilibrium. The dishes, while exhibiting some semblance of culinary craftsmanship, were not quite what I anticipated.
To my bewilderment, I discovered a wedding ring nestled within my lasagna. This unexpected encounter challenged my understanding of synchronicity and left me pondering the interconnectedness of our experiences. Alas, it was mistakenly intended for the adjacent table, a trivial mishap but one that ignited a cascade of thoughts on responsibility and communication.
Additionally, I must mention that while perusing the menu, I noticed references to menu items exclusive to Chili's restaurant. This perplexed me, for I had sought an authentic Applebee's experience. The intermingling of concepts from different establishments left me questioning the essence of identity and brand integrity.
In conclusion, the Staten Island Mall Applebee's, with its quirks and inadvertent surprises, offers an intriguing platform for philosophical exploration. One can contemplate the essence of relationships and the profound impact of misplaced rings. However, it is important for the restaurant to maintain its distinct identity and avoid the cognitive dissonance caused by introducing menu items from other establishments.
Remember, my fellow diners, life is a perpetual journey of self-discovery, and even amidst the unexpected, we can find...
