unfortunately, this cafe is now under new ownership, which somehow also translated to a new rude server.
this place used to be warm, inviting, and really lovely. I frequently came here, because the cafe vocally expressed their stance on wanting a ceasefire for Gaza, because they had good prices, and because they had a delicious bombolone egg sandwich. all which have been removed under its [new white male] owner.
In addition to this, I tried to show a punch card which had one spot left (a testament to how much I visited the space) and the cashier rudely told me "oh we don't take punch cards anymore"). It could have been nice to offer it as a courtesy. why would I come in with a punch card if it didn't benefit me to save money on a coffee?
the whole energy is different. unfortunately, I won't be coming here anymore, and even in bumping into a friend, a member of Artshack's community, i can relay that my sentiment is not unique.
I hope the new art shack re-assesses their changes so they don't destroy the community built here.
and to the owner ceasefire now. thanks for showing us where...

I asked if it was ok to work on my laptop, I was told they don’t allow it until 2pm(it was 11am). Yet I looked around and laptops lined the tables. I didn’t question it or notice any policy — I simply waited until 2pm.
Also, I sat at the table in the front near the coffee machine. The machine had an issue and maintenance along with employees began to fix the machine. As I packed my book bag up to leave I noticed coffee grounds scattered all over my bag which I had already moved to the side to be out of the way. Overall, a rude experience and it seems very obvious as to the clientele they...
Read moreDiscovered this very cute place today. It looked very nice on Google Maps and the shop/location is very cute. I ordered a Chai and it was served in a very beautiful ceramic mug.
A priori this space is very comfortable.
Unfortunately, entering the café, 90% of the guests were on their laptops which takes all the charm of this place away. No vibes, no laughs, no people enjoying a sunday afternoon. Some reviews talk about this sense of community but it wasn’t there.
Might come back to find...
