I’ve been a loyal Pink Penny client with Michelle for about 4 years. I was a member of her “Elite” squad (clients that preferred unique designs that required more time therefore we paid a pretty penny for our nails) I loved my nails after every session. There were times I would choose a design she didn’t want to do but we always came to a compromise on what she felt comfortable with completing. As of today, the Pink Penny website says “We hold anyone who walks thorough our door near to our hearts, keeping their best interest of care our priority.” Well apparently that didn’t apply to me so I’m writing this review as a response to how I was discarded as a client. Last month I paid for Michelle to do a home call, which was an additional $100 charge on top of my nails. I tried to schedule another house call with the manager & the cost was higher. I was confused so I checked her website for pricing and then I asked for a breakdown of the cost. I was then told the website shows pricing for “a growing technician” not Michelle. Who knew!? At this point Michelle messaged me directly saying her pricing is different than that of the “growing technician” and provided me with her pricing. For example, the “growing technician” price was 40$ for 5 pairs of designs but was told my request weren’t “designs” they were “intricate art” and were 120$. At this point I told Michelle I was going to “take sometime to think about the information and what makes best sense for me moving forward.” (Meaning house visits for an additional $100 or going to her shop) She responded “not a problem have a great day.” One hour later I got this text from her manager-“Hi Kali, effective immediately Pinkpennybk will no longer be providing services to you. Due to recent series of encounters over the last few months Michelle is no longer comfortable servicing you. Pinkpennybk reserves the right to refuse services at any time”. Before I could even respond and ask what “encounters” they were referring to my number was blocked on both text strings. I was also blocked on Pink Penny’s IG page and Michelle’s personal IG page. Needless to say I was shocked especially after 4 years of being a loyal client where I never batted an eye at the cost and always tipped all staff 20-30%. I wouldn’t say we were friends but after 4 years we did develop a personal relationship that exceeded just client/patron. Nonetheless as a paying customer I have every right to inquire about pricing without being penalized. I was completely shocked at the level of unprofessionalism and lack of common decency Michelle chose to exhibit. Beware- because although I was loyal to her she had no problem throwing me away after a...
Read moreI have been a pink penny client for about 4 years currently and the service here has been nothing short of exceptional! Every time I walk through the doors I am greeted with a smile from her and all her staff. The service is top-tier, down from the hand scrubs (free of charge) and the rub down with her own personal hand-made butters at the end. Michelle’s booking site is pretty clear and easy to maneuver around. The quality of service has only been growing as her business has grown. I am more of an introvert, but that all leaves once I sit in that chair. It’s as if I have my own personal therapist disguised as a nail technician. She truly cares about her clients and it doesn’t go unnoticed. She usually does get booked out pretty fast and one time I did get serviced by Tasheya (a growing nail tech that works under her) and it was almost like I was being serviced by Michellle in a different body lol. I loved the end product and she was obviously trained well by the professionalism I experienced. From the environment, to the service, to the end product it is all something you can experience only at PinkPenny BK. Best decision/investment I have ever made for the personal care of my nails. I’ve attached only a few sets to show an example of the great work I have received...
Read moreI recently visited Pink Penny BK and received the polygel full set + designs from Tasheya. Initially, I thought I was at the wrong location because it’s a bit inconspicuous however, upon entry I was immediately pleased with the clean and modern design of the shop. Upon entry I was directed to hang up my coat and then wash my hands. I was offered tea/water/beverage as well. Can we say luxe?! I love it.
I selected poly gel as this was the only acrylic like option for pre-scheduled appointments with Tasheya currently. I was not disappointed by the feel of the polygel which is definitely similar to acrylic. I enjoyed the hand scrub and hand massage as well as the massage after the services were completed. I’m really a go with the flow type person so I asked Tasheya to freestyle and do a design that she liked. I chose the colors and an additional color was suggested by Michelle (who’s the lead/shop owner). The outcome of the shape and design was amazing!
The shop had great energy and the music selection: afrobeats and soca had me dancing in my seat. I will definitely be back and I’m happy I had a chance to receive...
