I have been a regular customer at this place since 2014 & i must say suddenly this year a certain female employee (old lightskin lady) who works the evening shift has become very disrespectful ,discourteous ,unprofessional, antisocial and counterproductive..to begin with the styrofoam containers are not only outdated & more liable or prone to result in inadvertent spillage as the lid & soft squishy styrofoam is a mismatch..but it is also ILLEGAL to even use styrofoam in any new York city restaurant...for the first time since I've been going there for 5 years one accidental spill of my drink occurred after i left the restaurant & went to sit at another where i had ordered some food.when i finally attempted to drink the beverage i had brought from bake & things i noticed the styro cup had tilted sideways in the bag when i went to grab it & when i opened the bag i noticed the whole drink had seeped out the styrofoam container & fell into the bag & i had payed $2.75 for this drink. I then IMMEDIATELY returned to bake & things to explain the situation & asked for a courtesy refill..this lady chose to make such a big deal out of this simple request that you would think that someone had pointed a gun to her head & threatened her life instead of just giving me a courtesy refill of some inexpensive mauby & sending me on my way like most professionally staffed restaurants throughout the city would (especially for a regular customer) this lady called her manager & lied saying i spilled my drink on my bike (after i left the restaurant) which she OBVIOUSLY would have no way of knowing EXACTLY how the drink spilled when i wasn't in her sight after i left the restaurant & Furthermore since she CLEARLY knew i always ride a bike she should have automatically took extra precautionary measures to secure my drink in this old out dated ILLEGAL styrofoam cup by placing a napkin over the lid & wrapping it tight with plastic wrap which they had available to use at in the store but grossly negligently FAILED to utilize..as this lady was lying to her manager on the phone i asked to speak to the manager on the phone to attempt to expose the truth & expedite a resolution of the issue but was told by the lady that the manager said she will not get into all of that & refused to speak to me to over the phone to even hear & consider my side of the story thereby violating my rights to due process..when this lady finally got off the phone with her manager she informed me that her manager gave her permission to give me a small cup of mauby to replace the bigger cup that had spilled & over my objection EVENTHOUGH i had payed for a bigger cup i was given a smaller cup under a take it or leave it option THEREBY forcing me to be short changed by taking less than what i had payed for..when i asked her to wrap it with a plastic wrapper for extra protection to make sure it don't spill a second time this lady had the nerve to refuse to do so & tell me they don't do that at this restaurant..(IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT ALL OTHER RESTAURANTS I'VE EVER BEEN TO INCLUDING MCDONALD'S AUTOMATICALLY TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES (ESPECIALLY AT THE CUSTOMERS REQUESTS)TO SECURE A CUSTOMERS DRINK TO ENSURE THAT IT DON'T SPILL..FOR EXAMPLE MCDONALD'S HAVE A SPECIAL CARRY BAG THAT ARE DESIGNED TO SECURE CUPS OF BEVERAGES TO KEEP IT FROM TILTING IN THE BAG & SPILLING & ALL COLD SMOOTHIES DRINKS ARE SERVED IN TRANSPARENT CONTAINERS WHICH HAVE SNAP ON LIDS THAT ARE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR THOSE CONTAINERS UNLIKE THE UNIVERSAL LIDS FOR THE ILLEGAL STYROFOAM CUPS THAT CAN EASILY SLIDE OFF & CAUSE BEVERAGES TO SPILL IN BAGS) When i returned to the restaurant a day or two later i encountered the manager on the morning shift who to my surprise informed me that she RECIEVED two complaints on me by this lightskin lady on the evening shift that chose to make a big issue about a courtesy refill for a drink she had SERVED me in Said ILLEGAL & outdated cheap weak leak prone styrofoam cup..i then explained the SITUATION to the manager and she personally wrapped the drink with plastic on

I recently ordered food for a party from this restaurant. It was sooo good! I received many compliments from my friends and family. They all asked where I got the food from, and I told them Bake & Things. I ordered roti skins, curry chicken, potatoes & chana, jerk chicken, rice & peas, and plantain. I placed my order on a Thursday for pickup on Saturday morning. The food was prepared and ready to go when I got there. I have ordered from there a few times before for parties, and already knew that the food was amazing! Thank you for making the ordering process easy, and allowing just a few days notice to prepare a feast! And the people are so nice. They even helped put the food in my car. I’m very appreciative! You’ll always have a customer right here. I must say that I love my Trini food, and I miss having caribbean restaurants close by. Now that I am further away, it’s difficult to find good Trini food. Glad that I can always rely on Bake & Things when I am in the area, or need to cater an event. Thank you again!

Great tasting food and reasonably priced! Not too many places left in NYC or Brooklyn where you can get so much food for so little price. The Doubles are on point and not soupy like some other places. You can get their signature Bakes with pretty much anything on the menu! Definitely worth the money and wait when it gets busy. Service is good especially when you become a regular and get to know the staff. Their Sorrel drink is also some of the best for a restaurant. Pros: They pack so much food in the containers that it's bursting at the seams. Cons: They pack so much food in the containers that it's bursting at the seams!

Love the food but today I got some bad service, and it's made me rethink eating there.(this review is about the young light-skinned girl with the wig and them baby hairs) 10:37am in the morning day before easter, you gotta have an attitude cuz of how I gave my money. I ordered a doubles, gave 5.55 for a 2.72. Shorty catching attitude because I gave the extra cents so I would get back less change. She's muttering to herself. Bro I work in food, I have to greet the customer. How she went about handling me was unprofessional. Then I tried to inform her that the service wasn't the best in an orderly manner and she walked off. Okay then. I only just starting eating here, the doubles is $2.50. Like brother I'm going to a whole other neighborhood for this when my own sells it for 2.00 just made differently. I understand I'm not one of those customers spending a whole Burkina bag, but I was still a customer. Now? No, I'm good. Serve doubles to someone else cuz my patronage clearly ain't wanted. And it's not even like I'm mad, I'm just taken aback and disgusted because I WORK IN FOOD. That is not how you handle a customer, even if you feel they are doing foolishness. I'll see yall a few months from now cuz im good right now. I don't need to make myself quarrel on deaf ears. Bro like shorty was stink. If you see this, your attitude makes me not want to eat at the shop. āœØļø

Edit, i feel bad saying this, but the doubles is salty man. Still gonna eat it, but I drink a lot of water. Still taste good to me, just a lil...

I recently went here with 2 family members. I was boasting about this place for several days. We were coming from out of town and I refused to eat anything until we went here first.

I recently moved to Florida and was missing the food from here for a while. Needless to say I was highly embarrassed. From the time we walked in, the line was unorganized.

Several people walked in, shouted food orders over us, and got their food before me. Including several patrons who were already in line in front of us.

When I said something, the workers only responded, they are regulars and they already know what they want. After a 20 minute wait, I finally got to order. The most unprofessional thing I've ever seen. You can't do that at McDonald's. Why can't I have the same respect in my Trinidadian community and my Trinidadian restaurants

We finally got a chance to order. Got 4 large meals to share. Which were all great. When I get to the last bite of my food, I feel an unfamiliar crunch in my bhaji (spinach). I spit it out and to my horror I see a large Red Lantern Beetle.

I was immediately horrified, disgusted, and sick to my stomach.

The next day I went back to show them. I don't ask them for a refund. Was just showing concern as a loyal patron for many years. (Over 10 years).

To my surprise I was matched with hostility. I was told it must have came from my house.

Don't ever get food from here. Unless you like curry cockroaches, because that's what I...
