wow, how have i not yet reviewed bittersweet when it's literally my all-time favorite coffee/pastry shop in all of brooklyn? and is a scone really a pastry? i honestly don't know. but the bittersweet scone, yes, the plain scone, is so remarkable and so unremarkable all at the same time -- so much so that i wake up almost every single day thinking that i must have one immediately. i will drive out of my way, walk out of my way, take the bus out of my way, all to get the plain scone at bittersweet.
the only thing i'll say about atmosphere here is that i did honestly like it better when it was just the window. i don't think it flows so well with how people go in, and then get jammed up in the narrow bottleneck/turnaround space. but does it stop me from going there? most...
Read moreI’ve been searching the nearby neighborhoods all quarantine for the best ham and cheese croissant but my search has ended here. Barista was on it, asking how I’d be preparing it so as to select the proper ground size. We settled on ‘somewhere between French press and Turkish style’ since I wasn’t sure. Barista placed my ground coffee in a paper bag. The bag very soon tore and coffee got out. Also, the bag wasn’t lined like a coffee bag, so the paper absorbed the oils out of the grounds. In essence,I learned something that day. Hoping that the barista or owner will read this and possibly stock proper lined coffee bags for this type of situation, but even if not, was still a...
