An amazing experience, 10/10 recommend the Bocca di Bacco location in the Theatre District. We dined in on 5/30/25 after seeing a show on Broadway.
Service: The service was fantastic, from beginning to end. The staff (the manager on duty) were so welcoming to us. We made a reservation for 9:30 PM, however I made it for the wrong location (made it for the location on 54th Street in Hell's Kitchen). The manager was completely okay with what had happened and was very understanding, and still accommodated us.
Food: This was my third experience at Bocca di Banco, but my first at this location. We chose to skip the appetizers this time. From my past experience, I would recommend the burrito (see previous posts). I had the gluten free rigatoni pasta and it was filling and cooked to perfection. My sister had the bolognese. If you have dietary restrictions and have to eat gluten free, they do offer gluten free pasta. You have to ask to substitute for gluten free pasta when you order, I don't recall seeing a disclaimer for the pasta on the menu, but they do have it available. Our dishes came out warm, the presentation was extraordinary and appealing.
Wine/Cocktail Selection: The wine and cocktail menu- there are so many options, and you can immediately tell that the management team is careful and selective of the wine they place on their menu. I ordered a bottle of Sangiovese, and it was the perfect combination with my Rigatoni dish.
We visited on a Friday night, and they were open late, so if you're looking for a real Italian dish, a fun/relaxed atmosphere, this is your place. They are also open late until 11PM on Fridays, so if you need a late dinner, they are accommodating and this is a go-to!
It was also my sister's birthday, and when the manager asked what brought us to the city after making conversation- we told him we were celebrating her birthday. The manager told our server and when we finished our dinner, she brought my sister out a few pieces of cake drizzled with chocolate. The manager didn't know the server brought out a dessert, so the manager brought out a SECOND dessert with a candle on it. At that point, we hardly had any more room to fit food, but the fact of the matter, was that the staff and manager were thoughtful beyond measure. They also took a picture of my sister with her birthday dessert with a panoramic camera and gifted her the picture...
Read moreMy dining experience at this restaurant unfolded like a symphony, each course presenting a new movement in a melody of flavor.
The curtain raiser of the evening was the Gamberoni, an elegant appetizer featuring skewered jumbo shrimp harmoniously paired with sautéed lima beans and an array of diced vegetables. The shrimp, succulent and satisfying, delivered a rich, oceanic note, while the beans, tender yet retaining a hint of bite, added a comforting earthiness. The diced vegetables lent a crisp freshness to the dish, their light, clean taste beautifully balancing the richness of the shrimp and beans. Together, these ingredients wove a delightful gastronomic tapestry that sets the tone for the rest of the evening.
For the main act, I was treated to the Filetto di Maiale, a dish that showcases Bocca Di Bacco's expertise in the art of Italian cooking. The roasted pork tenderloin was a study in tenderness and flavor, its delicate succulence perfectly counterpointed by the robustness of the garlic and rosemary sauce. The asparagus and baby carrots served alongside provided the right texture and visual contrast, while their inherent sweetness harmonized with the savory pork and aromatic herbs. Each bite was a testament to the careful orchestration of flavors, from the mellow, savory pork to the tangy, fragrant sauce, and the subtly sweet vegetables.
The grand finale of this dining experience was a classic espresso paired with an exquisite tiramisu, a fitting tribute to Italian culinary traditions. The espresso, bold and potent, was an ideal counterpoint to the creamy sweetness of the tiramisu, and together, they created a masterful blend of bitter and sweet notes that served as a poignant closure to the meal.
Overall, my evening at Bocca Di Bacco was a virtuoso performance of culinary expertise. The precise balance of flavors, impeccable presentation, and warm ambiance of the restaurant left an...
Read moreCame here Saturday night for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend. First Gentleman that came to give us water was so kind and attentive. Our waitress came and while she was also very kind, she also seemed busy and distracted. I ordered a drink and then inquired about an appetizer, the waitress gave me a funny look and said she can’t put an appetizer in until we choose what we want for dinner. I never heard of a rule like this but I politely smiled and said ok. We then ordered our appetizer and dinners when we were ready. Our food was brought to us but was the wrong food, it was for the table next to us. No biggie. But then we got our food and my boyfriends meal was wrong and had to be remade. Which was a shame because he had to wait to eat his dinner while I had mine. The waitress was very apologetic. Food was ok, my pasta was undercooked. The couple next to us (who was seated about 15 minutes after us) got their appetizers, dinner and desserts before we even got our dinner. We waited 30 mins after finishing dinner to finally decide to not even order dessert since our waitress never came back to ask us. I had to track her down to get our check. We got dessert somewhere else. The crappy part is that it was my birthday and I was hoping for a better experience and slice of cheesecake. But I just was so turned off from waiting and not even being looked at while she walked by our table 10+ times. I don’t think it was on purpose. Seems like a great place. I think it was just an unlucky...
