We went to see Eisenhower at a matinee on August 12. There should be a warning that the many are steepto get to any seats in the theater or the rest room in the basement. A tall man blocked much of my view for the first act. We moved two rows back to a row that was totaly empty. A combative manager and her assistant challenged anyone who moved to an open seat. The theater was little more than half full. When we told her we would not return to a limited view seat she pointed to another seat that was equally bad. She was combative, inflexible and spoiled any joy we had in continuing watch the play. We left before the second act.We have lived in NYC since 1970 and have been to many off-broadway and off broadway theaters. The staff at St Clemens and the theater is at the bottom of of our list of awful thetare experiences. He even beat the time I had a rat run on my shoulder in a balconey seat at a village off-broadway theater. For older individuals, who dislike many steep chairs and rude combative theater staff, I recommend you avoid...
Read moreA nice theater space adjacent to the beaten path. Seats about 200, perhaps 12 rows deep and 16 wide with a stadium seating rake. Comfortable 70s style (but refurbished or new) movie theater seats. Something of a black box, with no curtain, wings or fly space that I could see, but a larger stage than most black boxes. Accoustics were fine. The church roof's arches and trusses are exposed and part of the charm. Bathrooms are in the basement and the theater is two+ flights above ground level (in half flight increments), so keep that in mind before you climb...
