I'll start off with a positive...the hotel was in a great location for walking to most everything; Time Square, Rockefeller Plaza, Central Park, dining...that I will give it.
I booked our flights and hotel through Priceline.com and let's just say, what you see isn't always what you get. The furniture in our room was worn and the room didn't look exactly like the photos we'd seen on the hotel's website. We didn't have a table & chairs in the room, nor did we have a bench seat. And the continental breakfast offered was the worst I've seen, not much offered at all. The hotel was recommended to me from a friend who had stayed there a couple of times (booking directly with the hotel). Their experiences were much different than mine and my husbands leaving me to wonder if they keep certain "bargain rooms" for online bookings.
The worst part of our visit was the cold room, it never got above 68 degrees during the day and dropped to the mid 60's at night. The windows had a constant stream of cold air blowing into the room through the cracks, and the heater below them was only blowing cold air. We did voice our concerns to the front desk, who had an extra blanket brought to the room; however the heat issue was never resolved and they didn't seem surprised or concerned about the problem. It also snowed while we were there and by the last day of our trip the curtains were literally frozen to the windows and there was a considerable amount of ice on them (inside the room). It was quite miserable.
Some of us book through online sites to help get better deals when bundling flights & hotel combos, but a better deal sometimes gets us crappy rooms...like in our case. It will not be a hotel we stay at again.
Photos attached are the view we had from our room (back side of building 11th floor). Also attached is a photo of ice on the inside of our window...didn't think to take a photo of the entire section...
Read moreMy daughter and I stayed at the Belvedere for our 1st trip to NYC! I choose this hotel because of its great location to the theater district. I read so many reviews even after booking our 5 day stay. But I felt like the lower star reviews were more personal preferences/experiences and not real issues. When we arrived the hotel looked exactly like the pictures. We were politey greeted and quickly got checked in. Elevators up to our room were fine. Our room was the double double beds. I was surprised at how spacious the room was! Great closet space to hang our clothes, nice room for the kitchen area. Fridge was very cold! Beds and bathroom were fine! Completely what I expected from an older hotel in NYC. When we went to close the blinds on one side of our window I accidentally pulled down the shade. We couldn't get it back in the holder. When we went downstairs to head out to dinner, we told the girl who checked us in Jessica. She was so sweet and assured us they would send someone to pop it back in. And it was taken care of very quickly! We always had more than enough towels, and they came and cleaned every day! It was so nice to come back to a clean room after exploring all day in NYC. The elevators are small, and there are only 2 for the 17 floors. But honestly we never even had to wait but a few minutes to get on one. Idk if we were just coming and going at off hours, but we had no problem getting an elevator to go up or down. Our floor was quiet, never heard any of the neighbors. We did hear traffic and sirens and stuff, but hey! It's NYC!! Completely expected, but nothing so terrible you couldn't sleep or were disturbed. The location to all the theaters was amazing! And plenty of restaurants, bars, coffee etc close by. We always had friendly staff and felt very safe and comfortable there. 10/10...
Read moreI booked this room on Priceline. It was one of those where you don't see the room before you pay so I didn't know what to expect. After I paid I started reading the reviews on Google and thought, what have I gotten myself into. I arrived at 11. Check in was 4 but they said they had a upgrade room I could have at no extra cost. I have no clue what some of these reviews are talking about, but the staff was nice, from the doorman to housekeeping. The room was as nice as the room I usually get at the Westin Times Square, It was clean, updated and larger than I expected. I'm not sure if I was the luckiest guy in the world and got a special room, but it was nothing like some of these negative reviews. If I had to say anything negative, and this is minor, maybe twice in 3 days the elevator was slightly slow and the heat in the room was a bit tricky. I think it was set at 72 when I got there and I felt heat coming out. I turned it up to 74 and it felt like cold air coming out. I "think" the fan keeps running even if the heater hasn't heated up yet so for a few minutes you get cooler air. But for the whole stay it wasn't an issue. The shower curtain could have been an inch longer because water was splashing out under it and the bathroom vanity was exactly at the height that stopped the toilet seat (the one you sit on) from leaning back so you had to hold it to keep it up. Other than that it was a great stay. I asked for an extra towel and housekeeping brought me a complete set of towels. The doorman helped me arrange a cab for my departure, the desk staff offered to call cabs for me. More personal than some of the big name places. I'd stay here again when I make it back to NYC. 10 Stars. Jan 10-13 room 823......and the price was great. $500ish for 3 nights on Priceline....
