I went with my family and my little granddaughter and they didn’t let me go in because my granddaughter was in a stroller very disappoint
Hello! I wanted to continue this review for my stepdad since it was my mother and I who spoke to your host directly while he stood behind us. Unfortunately you’ve been misinformed regarding the details of that night. When we went inside of your establishment, we did not ask to see the bar, we asked if we could please get a few drinks at or near the bar. Your host said no that it wasn’t possible and did not explain why. When my mother asked “why” he said it’s illegal to have strollers at the bar. Understood. We then asked if we could sit anywhere else since there were a few empty seats against the window, as well as at the booths. Your host said that the booths were only for people eating dinner. This would have made more sense if it was a weekend, earlier in the evening or on a very busy night.. not on a slower, cold Wednesday night. Please know that we go to enough restaurants to be understanding of these kind of things. However, your host was not accommodating in the least bit. He was not apologetic, nor did he make any attempt to see if there was a way to seat us somewhere else, speak to a manager, or try to find any solution-despite us waiting another minute or so feeling rather stupid having to walk right out. Before leaving, my mother asked again “so we can’t sit anywhere?” to which he replied no. I’d like mention that we have been living In kew gardens for 37+ years (right up the block from your restaurant) and take pride in supporting business like yours, hence our visit on Wednesday night. We’ve seen many businesses grow and others fail in that same location and as a sister of a restaurant owner, myself, can tell you the importance of tone and delivery. The true issue here wasn’t that we never got seated but rather that your host did not really seem to care to be accommodating. Had he smiled, given a quick “sorry” or had said anything at all… this would have been a completely different review. I hope this clears up any confusion of these “false accusations” you and your team may have had regarding the events of...
Read moreHeard good things about this place and finally dropped in. Walked in on a late Saturday afternoon with an open mind. This neighborhood is not foodie heaven, I live here and know this sad fact. So WOW!! so far. To start we were greeted by Marco who seems to have some influence on their food and definitely their wine choices. Please stick around Marco, you give this joint a certain panache. We will visit again with a larger party so that I can taste most of their offerings but let's focus on the fuss I'm making. Our choices: CARCIOFI ALLA ROMANA // $15Fried whole Artichoke Roman Style FINOCCHI E ARANCE // $14Shaved Fennel with Orange segment and Citrus Vinaigrette LASAGNA VERDE DI BOLOGNA // $22Grandma's Lasagna recipe with homemade spinach dough, Béchamel, Bolognese Beeffilet Ragù and 24 months aged Parmigiano Reggiano
The artichokes are fried to a perfect outer crisp and a bite reveals the juicy veggie. This Roman delight is now a NYC delight. As Marco pointed out, to have the fennel salad after the artichokes to cleanse the palate with a lively, light citrusy salad. We chose a delicious Rose to complement our food. And now onto our main dish, the lasagna. Grandma thank you!! What a surprise, green homemade pasta, it's the spinach, with the most delicious combination of cheeses and sauce. The very best lasagna I've ever tasted. We finished off this pleasant afternoon with a chocolate something. And I should not forget the amuse bouche served before everything. Very classy! A reviewer mentioned 'pricey', really? Try this level of food in the city or Bklyn and you'll know what pricey is. Benvenuti a Kew Gardens! p.s. QR menu's are such a...
Read moreI first came to this restaurant for a private party early this year. The decor inside is so beautiful, the food was great I had the carbonara, calamari, fried shrimp. Drinks were decent.
Fast forward to August 2024 I decided to dine in for dinner with my sister. I ordered the fried seafood appetizer (calamari, shrimp, vegetables). Calamari was good. I bit into the shrimp and immediately spit it out. It tasted spoiled. I smelled it and it was FUNKY. It definitely went bad. I told the waitress and I didn't want my entree anymore because I ordered the shrimp with white wine sause and pasta. I was afraid the shrimp would be spoiled. Waitress asked if I wanted to order anything else I was apprehensive but took the menu to decide. I decided to choose the Carbonara. The waitress passed my table 4 times. Then I saw her chatting with the other waiter. Take a sip of water by the bar and not once came back to follow up with me to see if I wanted anything else. The other waiter who intially took our order, never came by to check in. I was completely done with this restaurant. Finally the waiter came by he was aware of my complaint of the funky shrimp and asked if I wanted anything else. Told him it took him and the waitress too much time to come back to check in literally going on 10 minutes. It's a quaint restaurant and it wasn't super packed. I told him I was done and we wanted to cancel my sister's order. Told him to smell the funky shrimp (that they never removed infront of me) to see I wasn't making it up. No apology, no care in the world. I will never walk in this establishment again. what a waste of time. Still beautiful...
