We like coming here for breakfast once in a while. We have been customers for a few years. The food is good, selection is good, friendly and, for most part, fast service. Recently there have been changes to the place that we could not appreciate. A couple of times we were sitted in the area where it was drafty. It was during winter, and it was very cold. The waiters couldn't do anything about it, claiming it was hot in the kitchen, and the staff had opened the back door and wouldn't close it. So we ate covering our legs with our jackets. The dinnerware and utensils are being replenished with newer, cheaper looking and less comfortable sets. Lately, a lot of people feel that it is necessary to talk on their phone in a video mode, so that everyone in the dining room feels as a part of that private conversation. It is loud and destructive to other people, not to say it is just disrespectful to other people's privacy. I mentioned to the meneger that may be they should ask their patrons not to use their phones on loud while inside. I mean, there is nothing wrong with them asking people to "wait here to be sitted". If there was a sign saying nicely to "please use your phone on a private setting while in the dining room out of respect of others", people would understand. However, the menager just refused to even discuss it. "What are you going to do? Everyone has phones nowdays", she said. Yes, but patrons' behavior should be controlled by the establishment. This is how they set the mood, the culture, the rules of...

While dining recently, I saw something that left me feeling a little disheartened. A young staff member (Andrew), was being scolded by a manager for not approaching my table quickly enough. But what she didn't notice was that I had just asked for a few more moments before ordering.
The manager, visibly frustrated, pointed at the staff member and spoke sternly, right there in the kitchen entrance, but still visible to clients on the floor. It was uncomfortable to watch. The young man looked caught off guard, and honestly, I felt for him. From where I sat, he was simply respecting my request.
I understand how stressful service can be and that managers have a lot on their plate, but I really wish there had been more patience in that moment. Everyone makes judgment calls, especially in hospitality, and sometimes those calls are actually the right ones—even if they don’t look that way at first.
A little more kindness and communication can go a long way, especially for young team members who are still learning. They need support, not shame.
What the manager should focus more on, is that the plates served resembles the advertisement on the menu. My husband order was supposed to be filled/stuffed with cheesecake filling, but it lacked the filling part. All it had was a sliver...
Read moreUnfortunately last night my family and I had a horrible experience at Perkins. Usually we go to enjoy our breakfast, but dinner time was just awful. Minutes into us being seated our waiter told us we needed to hurry and put orders in because kitchen closes at 7:30pm. Then when we told him we were waiting on the Birthday guest, he responded well they need to come asap because technically Perkins closes at 8pm it was 7:05pm. So we all were seated and now waiting for the guy to take our orders(being that we had to hurry up), but he was no where to be found. Then when orders were taken it was so rushed that he missed a person's order. It was all so rushed that so many mistakes were made. Then minutes into our meal he comes over to say (loudly) if we want him to cut up the cake and sing happy Birthday already because they have to close, which was so upsetting because it was suppose to be a surprise! At this point I was very disappointed. Because i kept noticing he was forced to tell us this by his manager. But was hopeful they'd be discreet about the surprise. This was just NOT OK! Not only were we being rushed, but we could hardly enjoy our meals(reasons id rather not disclose). Overall, last night was horrible. Lack of cleanliness, extremely rushed, and many mistakes. We felt very uncomfortable, and extremely disgusted by...
