Cancún Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in New York

This restaurant is such a roller coaster, no matter how many times they change its name (it’s still the same ownership and same low-quality, careless chefs).

I’ve come to accept the fact that delivery will 90% of the time be a disappointment. The wait time is greater than most restaurants in the neighborhood. You can live 4 blocks away like we do and it will still be delivered COLD. You can order the same dish for the 50th time and it’ll ALWAYS be made differently. Either they’ll forget an ingredient, they’ll lowball you on the quantity, or they’ll be out of a key ingredient. You can be a loyal customer that has only ever recommended their dishes on social media and they’ll still be careless with your delivery order. Come on, they must know my address by heart at this point.

As a family, I’ve enjoyed dining in for a solid 3 years and I have nothing against the lovely waitresses and front of the house staff but honestly, they need to do better with the chefs. And some kind of quality control before sending anything out for delivery— it’s pathetic how they can never get it right. I’m done giving this place my money, it’s not...

UPDATE 8/5/23 2/5: Went back for dinner. Had a few drinks, guacamole, empanadas, tacos. All the food was great just like last time. Drinks were tasty and strong. HOWEVER, we took a total of (3) shots, while making the last 2 shots they claimed to gave made too much (because we asked for them to be chilled / with ice) and gave us the extra. When we got the bill, they charged us for 4 shots. We explained we only ordered 3, they said okay and adjusted it to 3 shots but ADDED another shot separately. ALSO, the total amount was about $186 however they swiped $209 on my card. Assuming they included their own tip because I’ve never seen this before. Very disappointed, never coming back, and the place had a total of maybe 10 people in it from 7pm-11pm. By 11pm it was empty.

Good and drinks were great! Nice portion size (was able to bring some leftovers home). Their menu indicates that they have happy hour almost all day from Monday through Thursday. Wait staff was great. Constantly checked on us and we didn't need much but when we actually did make requests, our waitress was M.I.A. for quite a while. More than once we considered must getting the check and leaving after waiting over 15 minutes for another round. The place was not packed and that's what was frustrating. We'll go back again but if that long wait tends to be par for the course, I'll be thinking twice about a third visit. Recommend stopping by!
