Blue Agave — Restaurant in New York

Disappointed with the Service I’ve been to this restaurant several times, but only because my wife absolutely loves coming here with her friends. However, every time she and I come alone, the experience is completely different. My wife and her friends, who happen to be lighter-skinned, always receive great service—waitresses are friendly, attentive, and even make suggestions. But when it’s just the two of us, that friendliness disappears entirely.

The service we get is noticeably colder. We’re barely checked on, and there’s no effort to make us feel welcome. On my most recent visit, we weren’t checked up on at all after receiving our food. When it came time to pay, the waitress dropped off the check and never came back. After waiting much longer than necessary, we went to the register and found her sitting on a bucket in the kitchen.

To be clear, the owner has always been amazing, and this review isn’t about him or the restaurant itself. This is solely about the female staff who work here. The difference in how we’re treated compared to other tables is stark and unacceptable. My wife can continue to come here with her friends and support this place, but as for me, I won’t...

My wife went here with a friend a few weeks ago and raved about it, so I had to try it. Glad I went, the food is fantastic. I started with a house salad, it was good. For dinner I had the Ropa Vieja. Shredded hanger steak in a tomato based sauce cooked with peppers. Wow, the meat was tender and had a lot of flavor to it. Something I would definitely order again. My wife ordered the Chicken Fajitas. The chicken was done right, and the peppers and onions were done right, not overcooked. All of the sides were fresh and had a lot of flavor, oh and the guacamole was spot on also. The waitress was nice, and did s good job. Of course my wife had to get a white sangria which she said was good. My only issue with this place is the size, it's kind of small and there is a bar in the front so I had to hear a loud mouthed woman complaining about how she tried to emigrant to Canada when Trump was elected president. I had to do a field visit in the area and was told by the staff of that facility that there were some great places to eat in the neighborhood. Enter Blue Agave... my husband met me and I thought this is right up my alley! How we were wrong! When I say we were the only ones ( the first for the evening) we were the only ones in the place. We ordered a couple drinks, calamari and 4 tacos... it is Taco Tuesday after all! The place started to fill up and it was a nice vibe. WE NEVER GOT THE TACOS!!!! WHEN I SAY EVERYODY WHO ARRIVED AFTER US GOT THEIR FOOD BEFORE US. (YES I AM YYELLING CAUSE IM MAD) the waitress was sooo damn nonchalant when we inquired about how long it was going to take for FOUR tacos.... let me cut it short I wanted to like the spot, wanted to bring my girlfriends back WE SPEND.. .. sadly NONE OF US WILL BE RETURNING.
