I was followed into the bathroom and harassed for being trans. This is ILLEGAL in New York City

Last Saturday I went to Chili's for a friend's birthday dinner. We were so excited to be there and having a blast. I am non-binary, and always use the women's restroom - I have received stares, but have (luckily) never had an experience as bad as the one I had at Chili's. Relevant detail: my friend asked the group to dress up as Steve Harvey, and so most of us (15 people) were wearing fake mustaches.

I got up from the table to go to the bathroom, entered the bathroom, crossed the entire room, and had made it into a stall when I heard a male employee enter the (women's) bathroom. He must have literally jogged after me as I did not see him as I walked down the hall, and I had already made it into a stall. I heard him speaking to a woman asking if a man had come into the bathroom. They spoke about how "it looked like a man from the back but from the front it must have been a girl." "It had a mustache but I think it was fake." I stood into the stall listening to this, and decided to poke my head out, and say something like "haha don't worry it's a fake mustache" because I was so shocked and not sure what to do. This man proceeded to stand in the restroom and did not leave.

When I came out of the restroom, a friend and I both confronted two managers, who just said things along the lines of "it's standard procedure, it happens all the time" and didn't see anything wrong with this situation.

We received no apology, nothing was comped, there were no repercussions.

First let me say that I had high hopes. I guess after covid service has plummeted. We were told there would be a 45 minute wait. Waiting about an hour as well as noticing parties that came before AND after were being seated, we ask about our table. We then were told "oh I called you 7 minutes ago" we are directly in front of hostess the whole time. Ok so nice server comes and takes our order that we had memorized about 30 minutes ago.. I ordered apps, shrimp and veggies fajitas, hubby orders chk and shrimp pasta, girls order there food as well. Long story short no shrimp came out on either plates told food runner she stated she will inform server however server never came to check on us for another 30 minutes food is cold no shrimp and I'm pregnant and hungry. Before this we had an app that obviously was sitting in the window for at least an hour. I've worked as a server in times Square for 7 years. I know food that sits out for a while.. yNo root beer for my daughter either. We then go to hostess because still no one has been to our table since food dropped. Then guess who shows up, our server.. she then says shrimp can't be modified in my order. Why was this not mentioned when I ordered this an hour ago, then says she apologies for not charging for shrimp on hubbies pasta. I declined free desert and at this point my head is booming. The Bathrooms are disgusting no attendant toilet paper everywhere with soaked floors. Place was freezing maybe because they sat us by the door. Will not be returning. We ordered a complete dinner this evening - 06/13/25 Chicken with pasta Chicken burger AND fries, Chips with all the different dips, Chocolate deserts with ice cream topping Margarita We spend our earned money for this delish lavish dinner OH WOW SO DISAPPOINTED! ACTUALLY THIS WAS A PIECE OF SPOILED/STALE LEFT OVER CHICKEN THAT WAS COOKED AGAIN (FRESHEN UP IN SOME HOT OIL AND BANG IT GOOD TO GO! ) AND WAS PLACED IN THE BUN. ALSO, this is how our food was delivered! The chicken burger - The crispy chicken; tasted nasty, rot/spoiled and expired and they tried to pass it out on us! The fries was cold! The chocolate desert tasted OLD/ DRIED/ EXPIRED. The ice cream topping was all melted! IT turned into liquid milk when it was delivered. The margarita tastes like water! The food containers was filthy tampered with dropping of food which was so scornful and disgusted yukk! Looks like someone held the food containers with their dirty fingers The food containers with the food was all placed in a clear huge plastic bag instead of a paperbag/paperbags and placed in an OPENED insulated bag/instead of a closed insulated bag This is like placing garbage in a clear bag and DELIVERING it to the customer! DANG! Have not seen this dilemma for the longest! Better off ordering Mcdonald!
