FOUND THIS HIDDEN GEM IN FLATBUSH #chinanewstar #chinesefood #chineserestaurant #brooklyn #flatbush #theyoungineats

Let me start by saying I have been coming here since I was a kid. If you live in the area then you already know this place is a Gem. I personally feel they are worth a drive to experience. Yes I drag myself from the other side of Brooklyn to come here and i never regret it! One of the most over looked items on their menu is the family style. It’s a great value and plenty of food comes out. If you go with a group I would suggest asking about it and giving it a try. They have arguably the best egg roll in the game, although my wife’s egg roll had a lil oil at the bottom of it mine was fried crispy and drained. Every meal comes with complimentary crispy noodles w/duck sauce and a side of spicy mustard and a pot of hot tea. The combination platters come with soup, egg roll and pork fried rice. I had the bbq boneless ribs combination platter. Besides the tasty food and generous portions I feel their staff really shines. They are very attentive and accommodating. They want your business and they want you to be satisfied. That’s awesome. If you want some consistently good Chinese food with awesome service please give it a try. They have a full bar! Food: 4.5 | Service: 5 | Atmosphere: 5 Seating type: Plenty of seating and is suitable for all group sizes Vegetarian options: their menu has something for everyone Dietary restrictions: the friendly staff will alter orders is asked Parking space: there is no dedicated parking here Parking options: there is paid and street parking in the area Kid-friendliness: depends on their age and maturity level. But I feel kids of all ages can enjoy this restaurant Wheelchair accessibility: this establishment is wheelchair accessible

What a waste of money. It was the worst Chinese food that I’ve every had. I don’t know if that restaurant is under new management from years ago, but they need to shut their door right away. We spent 150. 00 dollars for a bunch of lousy food. Whomever prepared our meal need to go back to culinary school. It was terrible. We ordered Young Chow fried rice, barbecue rip tips and Shrimp and broccoli. First, the shrimp were old, secondly, the rice look like a chocolate gummy mess and last, the ribs were cooked in vinegar. Oh my God you were warned. Stay away take this from me. You won’t be sorry! All of you who are giving China New Star a rating of a five or four have never had decent Chinese food before. If I could give it a zero I would! If you don’t believe me go on see for yourself. Part of this order was my sisters and she threw her food in the garage after she tasted it. Her food total was 69.00 and mine was 80.00 you do the math. It all adds up to disgusting!!!! Listen people any body giving a review after me are lying to the public . Please take my review Serious.

My family and I had dinner at the CHINA NEW STAR RESTAURANT, on Flatbush Ave. We have been dining there for many, many years. Well tonight was our last meal there. From the start when we ordered appetizers of Shrimp Toast & Dim Sum it went down hill. The waiter brought us Dim Sum and an egg roll. When I corrected him, 15 minutes later, he brought me an order of burnt shrimp toast. When I showed him that it would be unfit to eat he returned it to the kitchen. Another 15 minutes goes by and finally shrimp toast. This order was made from the white bread ends and was hard and awful. Now for the main courses. The egg fu yung was delivered with a bowl of Charcoal over fried, dried out rice. We asked for a replacement. Back to the kitchen it went (all the while egg fu yung is sitting there getting colder). Then waiter brings burnt, overcooked shrimp and bacon. Back to the kitchen it went (all the while egg fu yung is sitting there getting colder). Even the waiter is getting embarrassed. Now we had the shrimp with bacon & no fried rice or egg fu yung. Then the undercooked fried rice with old hard pieces of pork & the cold shrimp with bacon arrives We ask to speak to manager & are ignored. Finally after 3 requests, a young hostess arrives to hear my plight. She takes notes, says manager is off & there is nothing she can do....Also, noodles and dipping sauce must be a shortage because we had to request numerous times. Soup bowl's the size of dessert bowel. The hot tea was never refilled & service not only bad, but also slow. The only thing served in a timely manner was the check which totaled $95.80 which I paid sans tip. Never Again will we go to...

The restaurants interior decor is really nice but my experience was not! On July 17th my cousin invited me out to get something to eat and our first encounter with our server already started off wrong. Our server was a tall bald guy; he seemed very annoyed by our questions and he rushed us the whole time we were ordering. After ordering we didn’t see him again until 20 minutes later when we waved him down for a water refill. A couple minutes later a Caucasian couple come in, order, and some how their meal arrives before ours. We wait patiently for our food which comes out 10 minutes later. Finally we finish eating and our server doesn’t even attempt to check on us. Another Caucasian couple comes in, and he immediately runs to cater to them, then ignores us to go to another table behind us. Another 10 minutes goes by and he finally comes to our table. By then I was extremely frustrated and expressed my concerns, that man argued with me the whole time. It wasn’t until I said “I am a customer at this establishment and I am expressing my concerns your first response should be I’m sorry you feel that way what can I do to make it better” that he finally gave us an emotionless apology. He then disappears again and never comes back to get the check. At this point we decide to just pay at the bar. My cousin decides to express how she also felt to the cashier and that was a waste because she brushed us off as soon as she got our money. Now what does that tell you? After this terrible experience I will NEVER eat at this restaurant again! It seems as though if you’re Caucasian you’ll be treated like kings and queens but the same can not be said for people of...
