I've been a part of this neighborhood for over 20 years and I love visiting this bakery whenever I can. As someone who has a nut allergy, I always make sure to be careful when choosing what to eat. Lately, I've noticed that there have been a lot of new faces working at the bakery, which makes me a bit worried that they might not all be trained properly.
Yesterday, I decided to treat myself to a pastry after a tough week. My usual favorite wasn't available, so I decided to try something different. I asked the staff if there were nuts in the pastry and they reassured me that there weren't any. Unfortunately, after I ate it, I started to feel itchy in my throat, started coughing, and had trouble breathing - all signs of an allergic reaction. I quickly took some Benadryl, but I was still concerned about whether I should go to the hospital. It took a few hours of keeping a close eye on my symptoms before they started to get better.
I think it's really important for bakeries to have clear labels and for their staff to be well-trained when it comes to allergens. If there had been better procedures in place, this whole situation could have been avoided. I just want to warn other people with nut allergies to be cautious when choosing treats from this bakery until they improve their food safety practices. I've also reported this to the local authorities to make sure they're aware of...
Read moreHORRIBLE SERVICE! The person who packed our order made an EXTREMELY careless mistake and combined both regular AND SUGAR FREE cookies into ONE box! Nothing separated, nothing labeled. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, especially when my husband is a diabetic. I really hope these people understand how careless of a mistake that was and should feel lucky that I caught it before my husband ate something without knowing. I called the bakery to speak with someone, managed to get the person who packed my order and she said they don't separate the cookies "that's not how we do it", which I know is not true because we've gone there plenty of times. The worker said she was sorry "my mistake" and left it at that, dead air on the phone. I asked to speak to a manager, or anyone other than her because she was beyond useless to me, and was told her manager left for the day and no one else was working there until tomorrow morning. She continued to speak with other customers while I tried to get her name and explain how dangerous of a mix up that is when you're dealing with diabetic customers. I was ignored while she helped other customers, but finally got her name which I think I understood as Luciana, and do not plan to go there again. People PLEASE make notes in your order next time to avoid the same issue I encountered. I really hope it's understood how ridiculous of a mistake this...
Read moreI have liked their pastries and cakes in the past, but my recent experience has completely turned me off from them. I’ll never support their business again. I ordered a cake for my sister’s bridal shower about 2 weeks in advance. When I went to pick it up, the person who took the order had filed it under the wrong date. So after 15 minutes of fumbling, (making me quite late) they asked if I could wait 40 minutes for them to make it. I sent my husband back to pick up the cake, and instead of writing “showers of happiness” they wrote “showers and happines”. My husband had to point out that happiness has two “s”. He didn’t think they would be able to fix “and” so he brought the cake to the shower. I had him go back and tell them to fix it. They “fixed” the cake, but then the grooms name was spelled incorrectly. After 3 trips to the bakery, the cake finally did arrive at the shower with everything spelled correctly, but it was severely underwhelming. The cake was dry, the writing was plain and small, and the trim was sloppy and sliding off the cake in places. I’m sorry I even paid a deposit for the cake because it was just awful and the service was horrendous. Moral of the story is to support local independent bakers who take pride in their work instead of businesses who don’t care at all...
