Floridian Plaza Diner, 2401 Flatbush Ave, Bklyn NY

My family and I had been eating either takeout or dining in at the Floridian Diner for a few decades. The food, the prices, the service was impeccable. But, the pandemic forced it to close and it was sold, renovated and finally reopened a few weeks ago. I decided to check it out a few days after reopening but because there were new owners, new employees, I decided to just order takeout and hold my opinions, whether positive or negative, until at least my third takeout visit. On my first visit, I asked for a simple order of chicken fingers and a side salad. My bill came out to just under $20. I opened the bag at home and was thoroughly disappointed. I asked for French dressing and received balsamic instead. There were 4 supermarket style fingers that were thin and no more then 3 inches long thrown into an aluminum pan without a single garnish (lettuce or carrots) in the container. About three days later, I returned to Order another takeout. I ordered a cheeseburger (medium rare with grilled onions (I explained that I did not want a deluxe because health problems disallowed my eating potatoes). I also ordered a small side salad with balsamic dressing, s slice of chocolate layer cake and a slice of strawberry shortcake. After taking my order, I asked her to read my order back. When I got home, the salad had two or three tiny pieces of tomato and cucumber. Nothing else. The cheeseburger was luke warm, a small single slice of cheese was on top of the meat (it was as though it was an after thought and as if it had just been thrown on after leaving refrigerator (not melted), the burger was over cooked and dry (not medium rare as requested) and there was no grilled onion (as requested). The strawberry shortcake was horrible. There was a small piece of fruit that fell off into the container from a tasteless icing that covered a cake that was dry and had a strange taste. Last night, my third and final visit was absolutely appalling. I went to the counter to order. I sat at the counter for almost 10 minutes as several waiters/waitresses walked past me in front and behind the counter. The diner was not busy. Finally, a waitress walked behind the counter and asked if I wanted to order and never even offered a menu. I decided to order another cheeseburger. I explained that I just wanted a cheeseburger and not a deluxe because of my health. She looked at me and said that I would still have to pay for a deluxe even though I couldn’t eat potato. She told me to get a baked potato. I told her that I wanted a small side salad instead and was told no. I went to the hostess at the cash register and was told the same thing. I then walked out. At any other restaurant or diner, they would adjust according to a customers requests. After three straight visits that were horrible, I can only say…avoid this diner. If I could give this diner less then a single star, I would. As I was returning to my parked car, a small group was leaving behind me and were loudly complaining about their experience and I overheard a gentleman say they should go to the Oasis Diner a few block down Flatbush. I went there and was able to order what I was refused at the Floridian and the food was much better and a...

My family and I visited Floridian Plaza Diner in Brooklyn back in October, so this review is well overdue. Our visit was an absolute disaster, thanks to the rude manager. My daughter ordered the Hawaiian French Toast that came with fresh fruit. To her disliking, the fruit that came with the breakfast was hot, and cooked on the griddle along the French toast, might I add that the menu does not specify that the fruit is hot. I encouraged her to look at the menu and order something different. We called the waiter over, who by the way was super nice and attentive. My daughter barely touched the French Toast because of the hot fruit. It made the whole dish unpleasant, and we asked for it to be exchanged for pancakes. He looked at the plate of food and said that he had to get his manager. The manager shows up with the plate of food that the server took to him and had a total unpleasant attitude. He said “what do you want instead?” I let him know that we’d like an order of pancakes. Instead of asking what was wrong so that maybe going forward they could take the complaint into consideration, the manager just mumbled something that wasn’t understandable and walked away with the food. Maybe next time they could inform the customer that the fruit is hot and allow the customer to make an informed decision on if they want to go forward with the order, or maybe NOT cook the fruit. At the end of our meal the bill comes with a charge for the pancakes AND the French Toast that was sent back. Absolutely not…. That’s not how it works… he told me that just because I don’t like something why does his business have to take a loss…., well sir, sometimes that happens in business. I was more than willing to pay for one of the items, but not both, especially since they discarded the first meal, but the manager flat-out refused in the most unprofessional way imaginable. Instead of trying to find a solution or even addressing my request politely, he dismissed me with an attitude that made it clear he couldn’t care less about customer service. As a business owner, or manager it’s your job to accommodate your customers if they don’t like something. It’s customer service in which this establishment is lacking. It’s about profit over people… whereas if you prioritize the people with good customer service, the profits will come with repeat customers. It’s such a shame because the server was actually great – attentive and friendly. But unfortunately, the manager’s horrible attitude overshadowed the entire experience. It’s baffling that a place could have decent staff but allow the person in charge to treat customers with such disrespect. I would never return to this diner, nor would I recommend it to anyone. No one should have to deal with such rude management when they’re simply trying to enjoy a meal. A total waste of...

First off let me say this, if I could give this place no stars I would. But seeing that I have no choice but to give at least one star I'll give it to them for hiring people with disabilities. My husband and I visited this establishment earlier today for a bite to eat and boy ohh boy were we in for a shock. Upon entering we were greated right away (great start) the gentleman who greated us asked us where did we want to sit, we had no preference seeing that it was the first time we have been there. He wanted to put us by the door in the booth to the left of the establishment (so he didn't have to walk far he said), we kindly declined seeing that my husband had to use the restroom and it was located in the back so we were seated half way in the restaurant on the left hand side when entering. While my husband was in the restroom I was seated in a booth and the busboy came over with two glasses of water and sat them down, I immediately told him no thank you I preferred bottled water (I don't mind paying for it). He proceeded to tell me that's not his problem and that I had to wait the server came to my table, then walked away leaving the glasses of water (talk about attitude). My server came over and we proceeded to order, I had the corned beef hash with two eggs (add an extra egg) over easy with potatoes and white toast (lettuce and tomatoes on the side). My husband had two eggs scrambled with cheese, Turkey bacon, potatoes, wheat toasted a glass of milk. We always get a glass of hot water to soak the silverware while we wait. When our food came and was ready to dig in because I was HANGRY! I reached over to take my silverware out of the hot water and realized that there was an old dried piece of lettuce wrapped around my knife (so in my mind this was strike 2) so I started to take pictures to write a review. My food was so bad that I was only able to eat about 3 bites. My eggs were overcooked, the corned beef hash came out of a can and the potatoes was just that boiled potatoes with onion grilled on a flat top. I asked the server for some French dressing so that I could at least eat the lettuce and tomatoes that I had ordered instead to keep the hubby happy and not waste food but when it came be both looked at each other and said what is that and why does it look watered down (so you know I didn't touch it). My husband eventually got tired of me not eating and taking pictures that he asked for the bill (which was a whopping $40). Now the reason I am writing this review is because we pass by this place quite often and the parking lot is always full, even when we arrived the place was packed and when we were leaving people were still walking in. This place is dated, dusty (if you look at the pictures closely you can see the years of dust) and the food is bland. CONSUMER WARNING: DO NOT...

Great Local Spot with Classic Diner Charm Floridian Diner in Brooklyn is one of those rare places that consistently delivers great food, friendly service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty breakfast, a quick lunch, or a comforting late-night meal, this diner has something for everyone. The menu is extensive, offering everything from classic pancakes and omelets to burgers, wraps, seafood, pasta, and Greek dishes. I’ve visited several times, and each time the food has been fresh, flavorful, and served in generous portions. One of my personal favorites is the Floridian Burger—it’s always juicy and cooked perfectly. The breakfast platters are also excellent and come with all the traditional sides you’d expect. What really sets Floridian apart is the service. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and quick, even during the busy hours. The diner has a clean and cozy interior, with that nostalgic charm you want from a traditional American diner. It’s a great place to go alone, with friends, or with family. Their dessert selection is also worth mentioning. The cakes and pies are made fresh and are a perfect way to end a meal. The cheesecake, in particular, is delicious—creamy, rich, and not overly sweet. Overall, Floridian Diner is a reliable neighborhood spot that combines comfort food, fair prices, and good vibes. It’s a place I’ll keep coming back to, and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a solid diner experience in Brooklyn.

I went here opening week, so I'm a bit late with my review. So, first off, I will answer the question you are probably wondering. Does the food taste the same as the original Floridian Diner? No. Should we expect it to? No. Is the food good? Yes. I honestly think the fries are better than before. Tasty and just the right amount of crispy. The lobster bisque had just the right amount of flavor. I was happy with my stuffed chicken. I was too full for dessert. The place was clean. There's widescreens throughout the place to watch sports or whatever. Staff was very helpful. Manager came around and was asking in detail what everyone thinks and if we think anything can be improved. With everything being at beginning stages, they want to get everything right. I will say one thing I didn't like is that the booths were a bit smaller than I remember, but we were brought over to the tables to sit. Where the claw machines used to be is a cozy waiting area.
