La Torre Brothers Pork Store Inc — Local services in New York

This place looks like Landi's more raw cousin down on the other end of Ave N. Combined with Alliota's and Moretti's right next store, as well as Frank's around the corner, this is a one-stop block for Italian food. La Torre is a fairly sizable store for groceries as well as being a pork store. They have a large open kitchen in the back, and I remember one time where I saw them take a huge sheet of freshly cooked broccoli rabe. Best time I got a roast beef sandwich with fresh mozz, gravy, and onions on a roll. The bread is interestingly not from Moretti's (which Landi's carries), but instead Il Fornaretto in Bensonhurst. This bread was great as usual, and my only complaint was that it could've been a bit crustier. Their roast beef was homemade of course and had good flavor, but I like mine more rare. The homemade fresh mozz was great however, and made the sandwich along with the bread. They didn't kill the thing with gravy either, and while it was a big sandwich it wasn't one of those places that packs a ridculous amount of meat. I bought two pounds of Italian cheese from them in two different containers.Well in the middle of making Bake Ziti and meatballs ran out of cheese in first container, went for the second one had mole.Had to stop cooking and return it.Two young nasty men refused to take back their product. Blamed me for storing it wrong.Ive been storing cheese in the refrigerator for over 50 years. It's to old,WELL the first container was bought the same time that one was fine.Blamed me and wouldn't stand behide their product. I thought cheese gets better with age. So they show me their great wonderful cheese on the counter what do you know mold. Still refused to replace their product.Ive been going there since they open ,no more.They lost me, my son,my two friends. La Torre is everything that you could ask for in a neighborhood pork store! The staff is very friendly, the store looks and smells clean, and everything they sell is delicious. The meat selection is always first quality, and they always have lots of specialty items ready to cook at home, like marinated filet mignon skewers, homemade sausage patties, and all kinds of precooked delicacies ready to heat and eat. I'm a big fan of their honey chicken tenders, meatball rolls, sausage rolls, and their amazing and unusual bagel-shaped lard breads. They also make all kinds of sandwiches and heroes, both hot and cold. Of course, they carry lots of imported Italian pastas and specialty foods, too.
