BEST DESSERT CAFE TO GO TO!!!! We ordered two shaved ices and those taste better than the one from other cafes on northern. The price wise i think they are worth compare to the size. I tried almost all northern cafes and they just have one or two toppings and tastes bad. BUT HERE THEY GIVE MUCH MORE THAN OTHER PLACES. If u think this place doesnt give alot then i think u just dont know how other places scam u. The strawberry shaved ice has 2 variety and i asked the worker whats the difference and they said some toppings are different for each shaved ice. If u want mochi in strawberry shaved ice then u should order strawberry mochi shaved ice. Or u can add mochi for extra charge for other strawberry shaved ice. IF U READ THE MENU THEY ALL HAVE INGREDIENTS WRITTEN DOWN. ALL THE MENU WERE STRAIGHTFORWARD. If u want ice cream separately then u can buy them separately but they only have vanilla or chocolate. Ppl says they used to have green tea but ive been here for so long and i know they got rid of green tea ice cream selling separately like LONG TIME AGO LOL. IF U WANT GREEN TEA ICE CREAM U CAN BUY GREEN TEA SHAVED ICE. I only write reviews if they are really GOOD or BAD BUT THIS PLACE IS SOOOOO GOOD👍🏻👍🏻 if u want to customize stuff i think u should just diy at home lololol why would u spend time arguing for things thats against the business’s policy. BUT OVERALL GO TRY THIS PLACE FOR SURE IF U COME TO FLUSHING AND THEIR POPULAR WALNUT PASTRY AND TAIYAKI. I also attached newest menu bc ppl on this review complained about things that are not even on the menu LOL. THE WORKERS ARE TRYING THEIR BEST TO PROVIDE GOOD QUALITY FOOD TOO so i think we just need to be generous about them :)))))

The food is pretty good, I liked the Coco Original shaved ice with some extra condensed milk. There was a mix up with our taiyaki order, but it was still good. We ordered the mochi taiyaki, which imo is definitely better than the Nutella one we were accidentally given first. The shaved ice felt overpriced for what it was: we had to pay $1.50 extra for condensed milk, it only came with vanilla ice cream, soybean powder and red bean. I'm docking stars for the ridiculous way the employees behaved tonight (01/06/2023). You can't and shouldn't be letting several groups of people continue to order for dine-in less than a hour before closing. ESPECIALLY, if you're going to choose to shout "WE'RE CLOSING SOON, I NEED THE BOWLS AND TRAYS BACK NOW THANKS" at a cafe full of customers. Talk about badly needing customer service training. They didn't even offer anyone takeout containers until I said something, seeing as my group still had most of a bowl left. One table didn't move fast enough, and the girl singled them out at the top of her lungs, repeating "Hey excuse me, we need the tray back now" over and over. I've never seen all conversation stop all at once with how crazy the employees sounded. They also really emptied the cafe like this (all tables were full, there were at least 3-4 groups of people including ours) and then had the audacity to run away from the counter and look shy about it.

I was quite disappointed. For starters, the red bean paste walnuts in the reviews attracted me to Cocohodo as I have never seen anything like this anywhere in New York City. I was so amazed at what the menu offered because everything sounded so delicious that I asked the cashier what was the most popular items at the restaurant. Well, she wasn’t as friendly as I thought she would be. Just simply pointed a finger to her right assuming she pointed to the wall, but nothing was there. Turns out, the popular items was on a paper placed inside the display case. So, I ordered the walnuts and two shaved ices. I liked how they packaged the shaved ice for me to take home to enjoy. The walnuts were still warm by the time I got home to try but they only taste good warmed up. The shaved ice lacked flavor from the add-ons. I’ve had my share of shaved ice from Filipino restaurants (halo-halo), Vietnamese restaurants, and even Chinese restaurants (Hi-Tea), and those tasted better despite the innovative ways of combining certain food items together to put over shaved ice. Anyway, would I go back? Sure. Maybe a nice person would make the shaved ice tolerable, but it wouldn’t be my go-to place for shaved ice at the moment.

I usually get shaved ice here and while it’s on the pricier side it’s pretty good—my personal favorites are the strawberry and green tea shaved ice. While it may vary slightly depending on who’s on shift I’m guessing, I went here on a Tuesday at around 6 pm, and the employee working there seemed to be in a bad mood.

My friend asked if we could have strawberry shaved ice but if the ice cream could be matcha, and she said no. Fair enough, they probably don’t do customizations. So we asked if we could have green tea ice cream as a separate order, and the worker said that we can only order vanilla or chocolate. That was…weird? Because when I look up the menu online it says they have green tea ice cream…if she had said they ran out that would’ve made more sense, but she said we’re only allowed to order chocolate or vanilla.

Anyways, we get the order, and it’s completely different…it didn’t have the mochi that comes with all shaved ice, and the ice cream was…cookies n creme lol. Don’t know if the employee did that on purpose but it was funny. It basically just had the fruit and the ice cream on top, and was missing most of the toppings that come with the shaved ice. We didn’t want to say anything because it’s not a huge deal for us anyways, but I do think it’s worth noting that the same employee was giving us dirty looks where we were sitting (we were the only customers in the store). Idk it felt weirdly personal even though we just ordered, and we didn’t really say or do anything that would give her a reason to hate us. But she kept glaring at us and it was highkey creepy and made us uncomfortable so we finished and left early.

I see that there are a lot of other reviewers complaining about a specific employee but I don’t know if that’s the same person. Maybe that’s why the store was empty. When I went there previously the other employees were polite.

Overall it’s a nice place, if a little overpriced, but I would only return if that specific employee...
