Colombia La Dulce II Bakery — Restaurant in New York

I went to but some food there 3 times. I first got the pre made Hamburgers, it was $8 and change and was very dry. The buns were solid like when you leave bread outside overnight and the patty itself had this rubber texture.

Then I thought of getting the empanadas, I got the tradicional Colombian beef empanada ($2.50) but it was dry and extremely oily.

Then I came back a third time to get the oven baked beef empanada because that one looked recently made and good but no, dry again. This man got fooled 3 times.

The 3 food items (hamburger and 2 empanadas) were dry, the type of dry you find on old 7-Eleven taquitos because they have been under the food heater all day type of dry.

The type of oily dry you find on that oven tray from your unhygienic single uncle who reuses the oven tray for his frozen wings over and over without washing and the residue keeps incrementing and solidifying even more type of dry.

The type of dry of a Mexican mazapán if it was dipped in canola oil type of dry.

The type of dry you find in a text reply from a pubescent female teen sent to her immigrant Ecuadorian mother when asked to help out with the chores because she is very tired from working and taking care of her younger kids all day without a proper break type of dry.

The food was dry. Every bite I took just reminded me of that SpongeBob still-frame where he’s with Patrick under a heat lamp but I visualized it as the overly dry empanadas instead.

I’m not mad at the service lady. I’m not mad that the food wasn’t fresh. I’m mad at myself. I’m mad that I was really hoping for this bakery to redeem themselves with something good after that atrocious hamburger but no. I’m mad that I gave this bakery the benefit of the doubt and hoped for at least one good empanada but no. I’m mad at myself for coming into this bakery to buy something not just once, not even twice but THREE TIMES.

Trust me I absolutely LOVE Colombian empanadas, but these were awful. I can get better quality empanadas inside an East Brooklyn gas station at 3AM than here.

And to add the cherry on top; every time I went inside it was 2022 Daddy Yankee on full blast. C’mon! Not “Gasolina” Daddy Yankee or at least “Tu príncipe” Daddy Yankee, it was “Legendaddy” Daddy Yankee. The disrespect.

Did you get off 121 St Station and want a quick bite while you wait for the Q10? Or did you go to the laundry a couple yards away and want to munch on a delicious empanada while your triple load laundry is washing? DON’T. Not here pal....
