I’ve gotten empanadas from Craft about 5 times now and every experience has been exceptional. These are the best empanadas I’ve ever had. Each empanada is made fresh for you with fresh ingredients. If you decide to go traditional with a chicken and cheese or choose something more experimental like oxtail and cheese (amazing btw!!!) you will not be disappointed! Every ingredient is seasoned to perfection, and is perfectly balanced in the empanada. Anytime I’m on Gun Hill, I find myself stopping at Craft. My friends and I joke about how addictive they are but there’s some truth to it! I’ve also enjoy their juices, especially the passion fruit and their strawberry lemonade. They are very fresh and are delicious. And even better, the customer service is exceptional. This is a family owned business I believe, and every person I have encountered has been so kind and friendly. Every time I’m in there I strike up a conversation with someone and always leave in a better mood I came in with. I placed an order on door dash today, and I believe it was the owner who called to let me know that they didn’t have one of the empanadas I ordered available. He gave me the opportunity to substitute for another empanada, and gave me some dessert empanadas on the house. The service is truly above and beyond. I grew up in that neighborhood, literally on that block, so to see a newer business that is actually ran by the community and is for the community is absolutely wonderful, especially in a time where the Bronx is changing so fast. Their store front is on the smaller size, but they do have seating available. Found this nearby spot on yelp when leaving the doctor's office. It's a small space, with one cook. It can get busy, and the more people that come in, the longer they will have to wait for their order. As I ordered my food, the prices that were on the yelp menu, wasn't the same price in the establishment. Everything was between $1-2 more. They need to update thier menu price so that there will be no confusion. Also, there are no menus, or menu boards. You have to scan your phone in order to see a menu. As far as the food goes, there is a variety of tacos, & empanadas. I got the lobster crab, shrimp tacos, which were all f AMAZING in taste. The steak tacos were okay. I was given a sample of their vitamin c juice which consist of mango, pineapple, and passion fruit juice. I am going try, and make that at home; it was good.
