5+++ stars!! I've lived in Ridgewood for 31 years (yes, you read that right. Three-one!). And I can honestly say this is the first Indian restaurant I've been to in the neighborhood that has satisfied my bougie foodie cravings. It was a rainy night, and my partner and I were thinking of ordering in, but I'd been inside all day so was itching to go out. We compromised and decided to check out Curry Leaf for the first time since its opening a few months ago about a block away from where we live. We couldn't be happier.
Every dish was cooked to perfection, incredibly flavorful, and well textured. There wasn't anything we didn't love!
We ordered the Samosa Chaat as an appetizer (WOW, HIGHLY RECOMMEND, so many flavors and a nice balance of textures, and we used the naan to scrape up every bit of sauce left over), the Desi Butter Chicken (super tender bone-in dark meat with a delicious savory red sauce), garlic naan (crispy like thin-crust pizza and honestly just perfect), and two mango lassis.
The interior is modest and cozy, and the service was impeccable. The waiter was incredibly kind and attentive from beginning to end. He even brought out a dessert on the house for us. So so sweet. Needless to say, we will be...
Read moreThis place is great! We ordered lamb vindaloo, paneer, garlic naan, chicken biryani and vegetable samosas. Everything felt very elevated from other Indian take out that we’ve gotten in the neighborhood and the flavors of everything was complex and rich with aromatics and spice. The lamb and chicken were both extremely tender and obviously there’s care in choosing the cuts of meat with no chewy or muscly bits. The naan was so delicious and definitely very fresh with nice elasticity and a soft chew. Perhaps the most delightful were the samosas which felt very home made and texturally were fantastic with a bit of crispy on the outside of the dough and a soft savory filling that was made even better paired with the sauces that they came with. We will definitely order again and make our way...
Read moreWe got the saag malai, one of the fish curries, the lamb stuffed naan and the spinach paratha and everything was superb. The fish was very tender and we were pretty impressed. My boyfriend also commented that he could taste the tamarind flavor in the saag. The lamb stuffed naan had a bit more flavor than the spinach paratha, which tasted a bit like a less greasy scallion pancake. Our server Anil was the best server I’ve ever had at an Indian restaurant. He was extremely friendly, answered all of our questions on the menu and suggested his favorite fish curry, and checked on us several times and even made sure that the spice level was good. Would highly recommend this Bushwick spot as a dine in option but we also say plenty of takeout orders...
