I've lived in the neighborhood 20 years, long enough to remember Guadalajara De Dia 1 and when both restaurants served solid Mexican food to Mexican families and those who enjoyed authentic home style food. As the area changed they kept serving good solid food even though the clientele is now mostly young white " kids" fresh to New York and fresher to Ridgewood, Qns.... but recently something has changed. The food is not as fresh as it used to be. I used to order extra beans and rice just because they were that good!!! Maybe the humble older guy who ran the place for years got tired.... I don't know.
