Here is the email I wrote to Seamless Web just now regarding this restaurant. I ordered from this place on 1/23 and never received my food. To be fair there was a snowstorm in the area. However, please do read the review. My bone to pick is more about being lied to multiple times (restaurant employees kept telling me over phone that my order had gone out for delivery), and the response I got when I called the last time and was informed that the restaurant was closing and that no more deliveries were going out (rude, inconsiderate, unapologetic, and self-righteous).
I am personally never going to give this place my business ever. And I would encourage everyone to do the same. There are enough good pizza places around the area to not deal with these folks.
I would like Seamless to terminate its relationship with this vendor.
Let me first say that I understand that the snowstorm is creating a tremendous burden on Seamless/Grub Hub, and creating a difficult customer service environment for both your company and the numerous restaurants that operate on the platform.
And because I understand that, I think I took a number of steps to be an understanding and generally reasonable customer. I ordered from two places that were open earlier in the day in my parents' neighborhood (where I am staying for the weekend): T-Bone Diner, and Austin House. Both took deliveries and when I called to follow up on the orders, T-Bone Diner informed me that they were closed, and Austin House didn't answer the phone after multiple tries. I have sent you separate e-mails regarding ensuring that these charges do not show up. Also, I understand that you don't have perfect information on every single restaurant on your platform and why they were taking orders on Seamless if they were closed. I get it.
However, on the third try, I became a bit wiser and called D'Angelo's ahead of time to confirm that they were taking Seamless orders. This was at 6:08pm. They confirmed that they were in fact open and taking orders. I then placed an order (6:20pm time stamp below). As you can see, the delivery estimate was 6:55pm - 7:05pm. I realize that the snowstorm conditions obviously delay their ability to deliver under 'normal operating' times. I called at 7:40pm (half an hour later than their usual estimate), and I genuinely did ask politely if my order had already gone out for delivery. The person told me that yes, indeed, the order had gone out and that it was on its way. I need to double-check my phone but I believe I called once more to confirm this.
I then called again at 8:22pm (two hours after I first placed my order, and nearly 1.5 hours after the usual delivery time). The person who answered the phone gave me a very rude "the other person you spoke to has left, we are closing up shop, and we are not doing any more deliveries. The person you spoke to must have been confused." When I asked why the other person had essentially lied to me, the response I got was a: "what do you want me to do?"
As I said, I understand that the storm creates unusual challenges. That being said, had I been informed of this two hours earlier, I would have been able to go out and potentially get something else for myself and my father, whereas that possibility has doubtless diminished now that it's 8:45pm. I do not appreciate being lied to, and I don't appreciate the cavalier approach the restaurant took - it was basically a "it's a snowstorm, we're drinking from the hose here, and I don't care if you've been lied to multiple times by our employees. Too bad,...
Read moreIf I could give this restaurant ZERO stars I truly would!!!!!!! Today is Teacher Appreciation Day, and I placed an order over $400 with this restaurant last night via SLICE. I’ve placed over a hundred orders on this app, many for D’Angelos, without ANY issues, as customer service is always excellent on SLICE. The order was supposed to be delivered by noon today at the school. This is the second year I do this for my daughter’s teachers at her high school. After placing the order last night I called the restaurant to verify they received the order. The GRUMPY man that picks up the phone there tells me abruptly he hadn’t received the order and I completely understood that it would probably take a few minutes to receive it from SLICE. I then contact SLICE customer service, chatted with a nice agent named Jane, and I asked her to contact the restaurant and ask them to write HAPPY TEACHER APPRECIATION on the 7 XL pizza boxes. I could’ve done this myself but didn’t want to deal with this man’s attitude again. The pizza was just part of my order, as I also ordered salads, pasta and 10 2L bottles of soda. She confirmed that she spoke with the restaurant and that they claimed they hadn’t seen the order yet, so she gave it to them over phone, item by item. My Amex is in great standing, NEVER EVER WOULD DECLINE, but guess what the GRUMPY man at D’Angelos told Jane and I today at 1230 pm when we called because the food never arrived at the school? That my credit card filed on SLICE didn’t go through. How is that possible when Amex already charged me? How is that possible if Jane verified and processed the order last night on my behalf with the restaurant? Mr. Grumpy tells her during one of her calls that he refused to process my order!! I am in complete shock by the lack of professionalism and audacity of this man. I have been a patron for YEARS and this is how I get treated??? DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS PLACE. I should’ve ordered from SINGAS. I type this review while I cry my eyes out because teachers deserve our love and respect and this venue knew the beautiful gesture I was trying to make and they stomped all over it. SHAME ON YOU D’ANGELOS PIZZERIA!!! I asked Jane at SLICE to flag this restaurant for anyone who...
Read moreUPDATE:: I was supposed to update this a few months ago, but I didn't. The overcharge was rectified by the restaurant themselves and I was very happy about that. So I will be changing my review rating because like I said before the food is good. I won't give the full amount because they're still rude. But the food is delicious.
UPDATE:: I had to call my bank and dispute this matter because nothing was going to be done with the owner unless I went in person--although it wasn't my mistake, to begin with--and my bank was more helpful than the owner.
Good food, but the customer service and relationship aren't that great. I was overcharged after I was given a different amount on the day of when I signed the receipt. Then when I called to inquire about this I was basically told that I was wrong or confused because they couldn't find the receipt in their files. I will not be ordering from here anymore because it was not my mistake, they did not need to overcharge or change the amount and blamed it on the bank, and they didn't need to raise their voice or talk down to someone just because they feel entitled. For anybody that wants to order keep in mind that the owner is very rude, and aggressive with...
