Ordered takeout from Don Chicken on Northern Blvd and went for the Spicy Soy Garlic Chicken and it did not disappoint. The pieces were pretty big, juicy inside, and had that trademark Korean fried chicken crunch: thin, shatter-crispy, never greasy. The soy garlic glaze was spot on savory, garlicky, with just enough kick to keep me reaching for another bite.

I also tried the Sweet & Spicy flavor not bad at all, just leaned sweeter than what I usually like.

What I really appreciate is how Korean fried chicken is different from the fried chicken most of us grew up with. Instead of a thick, heavy batter, it’s double-fried a method that actually came about in Korea in the 1960s and 70s when fried chicken started getting popular alongside beer (“chimaek,” short for chicken + maekju/beer, is now a whole culture). That double fry gives you the crunch without the grease, and the sauces like this soy garlic add layered flavor instead of just salt and breading.

For takeout, it traveled well too the chicken stayed crisp even by the time I got home, which tells you they’re doing it right. Generous portions, bold flavor, and that authentic K-fried crispness make the spicy soy garlic the clear...

I ordered take out on a Wednesday around 11:15am. The counter guy was helpful with the description since I didn't know a couple of the names, i.e Ppurings and gimmale. My order took about 15 minutes. It's not a big place but it will sit about 22 customers. You have to walk up steps to the place so not handicap friendly. There was plenty of street parking. The chicken was very good. Wanted to try the basic so we got the crispy chicken. It was tender and cooked perfectly. I can be a slow eater so thirty minutes later eating a piece of the crispy chicken and there was still a crunch to it. The ppuring chicken was new for me. They described it as Cheetos covering the chicken. It's a very close description. Not as salty as Cheetos. The sweet and spicy is more sweet than spicy. I'm a wimp with spicy and this was listed at two chili peppers. I didn't find it spicy at all. All the chicken wings were great. None were too salty like Popeyes or KFC. My only complaint was that the wings were on the small side. I'll...

After reading all of the rave reviews I finally decided to try Don chicken out for the first time. I ordered for take-out. I ordered soy garlic and cheese snowing chicken as well as spicy rice cakes. The chicken was pretty good and I have no complaints there. But the spicy rice cake was inedible. It was pretty awful to say the least. There were unknown black specks throughout the dish and felt weird sensations in my mouth as I chewed one. I had to throw the whole dish out sadly. It was just awful!! I felt so bad for my family members all looking at one another to see if they felt the same gritiness. I don't know what went wrong during the makes of it but to serve it the way the restaurant did was a huge letdown and I won't be...
