Most of the other reviews are from Chinese goers, so there is not much trouble when they enter a Chinese restaurant. Now let us begin with my ethnicity, American born Vietnamese. Keeping this in mind we can begin the process of reviewing this restaurant with Ambiance, Food, and Service
TL;DR Bias plays an enormous role in the running of the establishment, and it could be clearly recognized as my party spent roughly 3 hours attempting to eat food that could be received and eaten at many other places within 30 minutes to an hour. There's another restaurant next door to the right, and a McDonalds 2 stores down to the left. It's probably more worth it to check them out.
Tips: Be Chinese or know how to speak Chinese Small parties of 3 or less are more probable of finding walk-in seating faster
Ambiance: Fantastic environment everything was clean, authentic Chinese environment, and very nice lighting and overall tidiness and modernistic look. 10//10
Food: The food quality was alright, although it could be comparably worse to another cheaper restaurant in flushing that you can check out known as Red Bowl Noodle Shop on Main Street which I highly recommend. As a new customer we did not realize when the waiter asked about putting "gravy" on Chow Fun it was simply slimy sauce. Just not very transparent with food options simply because of lack of knowledge of the Chinese language. 3/10
Service: Now this was probably the worse aspect out of the entire restaurant. Watching the hostess and host very closely they look at each of the tables and carefully analyze when customers are frustrated and hold back the food till the very pinnacle point of anger. We arrived at 7 however because it was rush hour it was expected to be at least a half hour wait. What was most infuriating was that other Chinese groups who arrived after us at roughly 7:15 to 7:30 were seated before we were. We were finally seated at roughly 8:00 after announcing our interest of leaving the establishment, and were not given food until roughly 8:50 where they staggered the delivery of the food slowly bringing up plate after plate. It was not until 9:30 that we receive the majority of the food we ordered, but by then our appetites had diminished quite a bit. It was very apparent that the hosts were carefully watching the customers, and that Chinese were favored over other customers. By roughly 9:50 the only remaining customers in the restaurant were, without any exaggeration: our Vietnamese party of 8, and two white American parties - one of 4 and one of 2. 0/10
I might be coming out as biased but when multiple honest reviews from non-Chinese customers are drowned out by the reviews of Chinese customers for the Chinese run restaurant it shows the lack of appreciation for other customers.
Final rating: 0.43/10 (for non-Chinese customers) : 6/10 (for...
Read more(This is a 100% honest and non-biased review). Within this review, I will delve deeper into each of the negatives we encountered during our visit.
We (a group of 8 people) entered at 7 pm and waited approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to be seated.
a. At least 5 separate groups of people that came in after us, ended up being seated before us.
b. My family wanted to leave to find a place w/ quicker service and after a solid 50 minutes of idle waiting, we stood up as if we were about to leave. The workers at the front quickly reassured us that we would be seated within 5 minutes. My younger brother set a timer (just for jokes!) and unsurprisingly we were still waiting around once those 5 minutes had passed.
*I completely understand that on a Friday night, you cannot expect to be seated within 10 minutes. But not only did we wait for 80 minutes, several groups of people that came in around the same time as us were seated within 15 minutes.
The food wasn’t great, at all.
a. One would think that after 80 minutes of waiting, the manager would try their best to encourage quality food to be served promptly. The food we ordered was subpar at best. After waiting that long, the actual consumption of my meal was rather anticlimactic. Nothing was outstanding and I settled for eating the broccoli, pork chops, and general tso chicken.
Going off of a small detail in point 2a, the food was definitely not served promptly. We ordered around 6 different dishes. (Keep in mind we were seated at around 8:20). Our first dish was served 10 minutes after we were seated. We blew through our first 5 dishes and probably finished eating around 8:50. Our final dish did not arrive until 9:09.
Overall we had been inside of this restaurant from around 7:00-9:30, which is 2.5 hours/150 minutes. We spent 45 minutes eating, meaning we spent an estimated 105 minutes waiting (to be seated and to be served).
Final takeaway: If we were seated/served within a reasonable timeframe, I probably could have overlooked the less than stellar quality of the food. In fact, there’s a McDonald’s a few doors down. If you’re looking for not the best quality food but quick service, it’ll do your stomach good to skip right over LN1380s low quality food/service and walk into...
Read moreReally nice atmosphere, bright, clean and neat, during the weekends it's usually packed from 12-2 pm, cus It's kinda traditional for Cantonese to come down there have some dim sum with family, so you might wanna call in a make a reservation.
We've tried Bean Curd and Egg White($18.95) , which is super delicious, I devoured that in 5 minutes, tofu delicately sliced and placed in a very neat order and served on a pretty big plate with spicy sauce at the bottom, topped with those silky egg white, (the egg white is actually pre-mixed with crab meat to add a bit seafood flavor, then the tofu won't taste that plain), so this one is my favorite! 😍 I can eat this all day just simply mix it with my white rice
Walnut Shrimp($25 for 15 of them) is really in a good size, slightly battered and fired shrimp wrapped up with some house sauce, that thin layer of batter kept most of the freshness and tenderness within, and sprinkled with some nutritious walnuts, what a meal👌🏼!
Golden fried spicy rack of Lamb, $26.95 I have to say this is the best lamb rack that I've ever had. You could tear apart the lamb with only a bite and yet without meat stuck in between your teeth. Cuz unusually other places had the lamb so hard to chew on, but here in LN 1380 they had the lamb marinated with herbs and sauce for a certain amount of time and then seasoning it during cooking. The essence of Cantonese cooking style!😉👌🏼
Also the sautéed string been with dried fish, $13.95, tho you could cook it at home, but you'll never get the same taste this place could given you✨✨
Tried some dim sum another morning, chickens' fingers(凤爪)and 牛仔骨...
