My usual Chinese restaurant Food King, is closed on Monday's and it's an extremely rainy day today so I was craving hot food instead of McDonald's but did not know of any other Chinese take out spots near me. I did your basic google and yelp search but unsurprisingly, Canarsie lacks decent and reliable reviews. So here I am with my attempt to provide you with an objective look into my experience. Despite the lack of reviews and poor ratings by neighbors, I took a chance and ordered for delivery from Double Dragon today on 11/30/20 and I don't regret it. The food arrived at my door about 20 minutes after I had placed the order over the phone and was still very hot. The delivery guy was nice and courteous, was wearing his mask and overall no complaints there. With regard to the food, my mom and I ordered chicken wings with shrimp fried rice, chicken w/ broccoli w/ white rice and a small won-ton soup. This total came out to $16.25 and I scored a free can of soda (coke). My mom requested 5 packets of duck sauce and they gave us 7 packets. My mom enjoyed her meal and she felt the chicken and the shrimp both smelled and tasted fresh. My chicken w/ broccoli was not overly greasy and the sauce had a nice consistency. They also gave me a good amount of chicken which I appreciate, some places skimp you on the chicken and just weigh down the container with broccoli. Not the case here with Double Dragon. The won-ton soup had a generous amount of won-tons in it's small container and the broth had great flavor although I noticed it's a little on the fattier side once your soup cools to room temp. Overall, I had a great delivery experience with this Chinese restaurant and will continue to order from here again. Thanks to this good first impression of them, I highly recommend checking them out! Stick to Chinese food BTW, because for the life of me I don't know why people around here order fries and other non-Chinese cuisine from a Chinese takeout place. Like...come on now y'all, if you stick to the basics you will not be disappointed.

So it’s Wednesday night in the city, and I’m just trying to enjoy a peaceful plate of sesame chicken at Double Dragon.

Then a man comes in looking like he had just lost a fistfight with a seagull. He was dragging—and I mean literally dragging a massive stingray across the greasy New York City sidewalk like it owed him money. Not in a cooler. Not in a tank. Just raw-dogging the concrete with a sea creature that looked like it had unfinished business in the Atlantic.

He strolls in like this is totally normal. As he is taking the stingray towards the back, the stingray makes eye contact with me. Not like a, “Hey, there,” kind of glance. I mean soul-gazing, time-stopping, “I know your credit score and the moment you stopped believing in yourself in the 7th grade” kind of stare. It saw everything. My traumas. My browsing history and the exact moment my dog started to resent me.

I turned to the guy at the next table; a regular, apparently and whispered, “Is this... normal?” He didn’t even look up from his egg roll. Just muttered, “Better than the time someone brought in a pelican.”

And I swear the chef just nodded, and lead the way towards the back where the stingray was planted on to the sink of Double Dragon. The chef smiles and says “This go good with garlic.”

Anyway, the food? Absolutely slapped. The dumplings were juicy. The egg drop soup fixed three of my unresolved emotional issues.

If you’re looking for dinner and an unsupervised nature documentary shot on the gritty streets of NYC…Double Dragon is your spot.

11/10, would let the stingray read...

I Had Ordered Chiken Wings With Pork Fried Rice And A Egg Roll, The Delivery Man Was Taking So Long With The Food And When I Had Got It, It Was Chiken Wings With Shrimp Fried Rice. The Wings Was So Salty And Skinny Like It Was There For Days And Inside Of The Egg Roll Teasted Like It Was Expired. So I Had Called Back And The Lady Said She Was Going To Bring Me My Pork Fried Rice, Which Turned Out That Half Of The Pork Wasn't Even Cook And It Just Teasted So Nasty. I Really Wasted My Money. This Place Needs To Shut Down Because This Is Not The First Time I Had...
