El Huasteco Authentic Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in New York

I’ve been to this spot 3–4 times. The only reason I kept coming back was for the frozen piña coladas — they’re genuinely great. Unfortunately, that’s where the good experience ends.

The last time I went was the last straw. We had ordered the Mexican breakfast for pickup, using a menu we got directly from the restaurant. When we got home, we realized the eggs were missing chorizo, even though the menu clearly stated it came with it. We called, and they admitted the menu was incorrect but said they’d remake it. When we arrived 15 minutes later, they hadn’t even started cooking.

We asked to keep the rice from the original dish, and they refused — which felt unnecessary considering it was their mistake and we had ordered $60 worth of food. The home fries were bland and underwhelming — barely seasoned and amounted to about half a potato. Overall, bad service and bad portions.

Also, the birria tacos were a big letdown. They lacked seasoning and were basically just birria sauce poured over soggy tortilla wraps — no cheese, no crisp,...

Go ahead and believe all those 5 Star reviews- their street tacos are the best I've had! In NYC, Cali, Mexico- PERIOD. Took a 'flyer' on a late-night delivery after a long day of tourist-ing, was blown away. Got a selection of my favorite tacos, shrimp, el pastor, Caribbean jerk and chorizo- each was more fire than the last, and I honestly can't decide which I enjoyed more. The Caribbean jerk was so layered & balanced with sweet, smokey spices, the shrimp was devine, el pastore had all the layers you could ask for, the chorizo could be a bit spicier, but dab that red sauce on and you won't care. Came with enough red & green sauce to satisfy all four tacos and juicy ripe lime wedges. Now I have a go-to taco spot...

We Always Look for a Special Place of Luxuriousness and Expenses to celebrate an Important Event, My Wife gave me a Super Celebration Surprise on 09/14 for my Birthday and invited me to this Restaurant El Huasteco and it was not the Luxurious Less the Expensive that I Loved about this Restaurant but how Helpful and Attentive they were when Serving and Taking Orders Above All the Warm Welcome that makes one feel Part of the Custom of their Countries Guatemala and Mexico the Truth We were Stunned and Very Happy I am Demanding with the Service and Attention and these People Surprised Me I give 100% to everything I Recommend to everyone who Reads Visit it without Fear you will Love it and by the way Invite me...
