Ran out in tears bc of a (racist?) elderly caucasion man. It all started when he looked at me with a terrible expression as soon as i sat down (I am an Asian woman). He did not say a single word, just stared at me blankly. I asked him if he needed to see my id, to which he looked at me like I cursed his mother and replied "yes" in the most hateful way imaginable. He immediately said, "what do you want" to which i replied "i just sat down, may i please have a moment". He then sat a water down and said "here is this in the meantime". '. As i decided what i wanted he ignored me on multiple occasions, and finally said "i think you are good with water". Mind you--I haven't had a single drink at all today; I certainly had been in my head over the loss of my mother and may had been off--but 1000%, never was I ever rude to him in the slightest. Obviously I didn't and don't think I would have, but I was genuinely tempted to call the police and ask them to bring a breathalyzer to test right in front of him, as I found this accusation appalling, given no reason for him to say so. Never did I stumble, wobble, shake, or slur a single English spoken word. When he finally came near me again, I had found the courage and asked him if he enjoyed being rude to me, to which he replied "I'm not being rude, you've had too much to drink; another time". I cannot emphasize any further that I haven't had a single drink this entire day. At this point, I am the most sober a human can possibly be. I felt so upset and rejected for no reason, it was a dehumanizing experience.... I get this will not affect their business at all, as it seems like a neighborhood bar and regulars will probably laugh at this with the bartender himself and deem me as a drunken over-reactor. To be honest, I don't want this to affect their business. I don't judge people on their worst action/ experience. But, I do want it to be know, kindness should be free and my ethnicity shouldnt be the currency required to purchase it. It's fine if you don't believe me, no-one ever believes women in these situations... It's just a fact I must accept. I wanted to release this from my heart and share my experience for anyone who reads, so they can make their decision if they want to support a place who enables this type of behavior. There is far too much hate in the world, it's sad to see so much, so close to home. Sending all peace and blessings and may this sad miserable human heal from the demons he is forced to live with. I leave this experience behind...
Read moreWhere do I begin..... Mmmmmmm! I applied for the Chef position there. Was fired after 4 days of working. Will get into that in a few.. In my interview I was warned about the sons owner by multiple people that worked there. First thing first. THE OWNER SMOKES IN THE KITCHEN. (Smh) The salmon, trout and catfish are not fresh.. There frozen.. The Cod Fish is the only fresh fish there.. Now back to me being fired... Theres always two sides of a story. I’m the Chef I create the specials not the son. I’m my interview with the owner .. I made it clear that I will send all specials to him the night before . So I come in on my shift and the sons owner came into the kitchen and TOLD me to add these to the specials that I already created. In turn he lied and said the “ The curry chicken has been down there for a week.” I said “ I haven’t been here a week so how is the curry been here when I just made that.” He’s thing was we have to get rid of it cause of the inspectors instead of throwing it out. I’m sitting here like ... Saying to myself bringing it upstairs and putting it in the low boy doesn’t help either. It just reminded me of being warned about him. So then words was exchanged .. He called me a cook the worst thing you can call a Chef. Then he ran that I’m the boss and your going to do what I say. WRONG MOVE. Now his father said that to me the night before .. With a cigarette in his hand in the kitchen .. So I told The pops and the son, I don’t need to be here. Now check this out ... Feb 7th I was terminated I didn’t get paid till the first week of March for those 4 days. I kept getting the run around about my money.. The first night of my orientation the cook was smoking in the kitchen as well along with the owner. He’s says he’s a honest man ... SMOKING IN THE KITCHEN AND SERVING THE FOOD ISNT BEING HONEST. 2nd HAND SMOKE KILLS .. I WAS SO IN SHOCK WHEN I SAW THE OWNER SMOKING IN THE KITCHEN .. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE LONGEST FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD. It was a perfect fit to me. My specials was selling ... Had some followers come and only been there for four days.. The son give out free food to a woman he’s trying to court .. Smh... Your not safe eating here with a owner smoking in the kitchen .. I text you my resume so you call who you want. I worked and retired from the post office, so my short stints are valid. Meaning I can where ever I want because I had a 9 to 5. So your only assuming. Talk about smoking in the kitchen. There was no need to cut more cod if we had cod...
Read moreHow insane that on top of sharing my actual experience, which I was extremely accurate and fair, as I posed questions never accusations.
All to receive—
Response from the owner: We are in business since 1943 . If you weren’t served it was for a reason . This review is ridiculous and I would appreciate if you would take it down .
Reason being prejudice(?). Here once again, a question. I am not pretending to be a mind reader, yet the situation is quite simple. I have never in my life been turned away. I had given no reason. So the “reason” must have been based on my appearance/person.
It’s great you’ve been in business since 1943. Maybe update your thinking from that year as well and how dare you shame a person from their experience.
Kindly, touch grass and breathe. Peace and blessings!
UPDATE: the owners response to this has got to be the most iconic representation of toxic masculinity I’ve ever seen. It’s not bashing when it’s true—but I can’t change your perspective, nor do I wish to. You know what?, do you! Slam down another double whisky, shut down more women, and just...
