Empanadas RD 167 St — Restaurant in New York

5/18/25 I’m not sure why I tried to go in here again, I figured with new staff it might be a better experience. I ordered a shake for pickup with uber and when I walked in the woman at the counter not once acknowledged me. She took orders over the phone and another gentleman who was there, but not once did she attend to me. I ended up canceling my shake order while in the store which I still had to pay for. Nonetheless still terrible customer service in here and never again will I set foot in here.

The food was okay, very greasy and overpriced. TERRIBLE customer service, they always have an attitude. I’ve attempted to support their business twice but I won’t be going back. The heavyset lady with glasses frowned when I asked for a shake at 8:40 pm (closing time is 9) & when I asked what flavors the pastelitos were she didn’t know simply said they were all different. I feel like their food is delicious. I’ve ordered from them a few times and have came in person and although they are usually busy, the food is fresh and the quality is great. Their empanadas are always stuffed and fresh and so good!! At least when I go and order.

Their chimis taste very similar if not almost the same as the ones in DR. The bread is not harddddd and it’s perfect unlike like most places that sell chimis. It’s also so tasty and it even comes in the blue and white stripe bag like in Dom Rep 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴!! So cute 🤭🤭.

The only ‘but’ I have to add about this place is that It’s a bit more expensive than other locations. But then again, the taste and quality makes up for it, so is it really a ‘but’ ?? Maybe not🤷🏻‍♀️😅

Horrible time management & food quality. I ordered a sweet plantain with ground beef yaroa & a don ramon burger on the phone for pick up, I sent my little sister to get it. They literally had her waiting there for an hour & 20 minutes. When she finally got home with the food the yaroa had no ketchup & mayo, & the sweet plantain wasn’t even sweet. The bun on the don ramon burger was burnt like they left it to toast for way too long & the egg was over cooked.
