I'm a huge fan of Fish N' Ting! The food is always on point. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal here. I typically order in advance and pick up. If you're getting the Rasta Pasta or Steamed Fish they tell you it usually takes 15-20 minutes (it's really more like 30+ minutes).
The front is very unassuming and you could miss it between the auto-shops. When you go inside there is a small bar on the right and straightforward is where you can order food to go or get a table to dine in. There is also seating in the back that's outside (it's covered) with a bar area as well.
On this occasion, I dined inside and our group ordered the callaloo spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken, shrimp rasta pasta and seafood pasta. We also had two drinks. The food is always good but the rasta pasta is supposed to be spicy but this time around it wasn't. The callaloo spring rolls were really good and spicy. The food was also lukewarm which was a disappointment. The drinks were very sweet which is expected for what we got but it tasted like we were drinking syrup and not a mixed drink with alcohol.
Now for the service. The service here is always so spotty. I feel like it depends on the day and the person who ends up serving you. For this visit, the person who served us just wasn't friendly at all. She never introduced herself and it seemed the entire time she was avoiding us. We actually received great service from another waitress who was serving other tables.
Recommendations: Goat soup, chicken soup, red snapper (steamed) and rasta pasta's.
I'll still visit because the food is good but I would more than likely not visit for dine-in...
Read moreThis place gets 1 star because I have been coming here for years and I officially will never come back. 1 instance, there was hair on my plate, another instance, the waitress just didnt know the menu and off menu offers....now been sitting and hr and still no food. Waited 20 minutes for a side salad . Servers are nice, but slow and need training. I feel that they neglect the front room for the back and do not assign servers to handle each area. 1 waitress for the entire place? Smh. Problem with most jamaican establishments....they take absolutely no pride in the service. For this alone, prices should be lowered....all I'm paying for is to wait and for awful service. Enter the restaurant no place settings on the table, no nothing and tables arent even wiped down from previous patrons. Just received my soup after 40 min....and its cold....disappointing. I can no longer sit idly as you all rob people and do not hold up your end of the bargain by providing adequate service for dining. And DO NOT come in here dressed, bc you will go outside stink of fish....update the fan...ppl nuh wan smell like fish! And again, train your staff, when I go to the hibachi place, EVERYBODY as far as staff is ok the same page...why is it so difficult for you staff? Now, the food is not bad, actually quite good...but when I'm eating in the front, close the blooming door I dont want to see the footwork your employees are doing, and tbh dont want to see behind the counter period. Is in bad...
Read moreI was referred to try a new restaurant so I call to place an order and they don’t take orders over the phone after 8pm. Nonetheless, I drove 20mins away to the restaurant & tried to order thinking it was (budget friendly). I wanted whiting w/fries ($17). The host put my order in, and THEN suggested “let me check w/ the kitchen they may not have any available” she comes back less then a minute later only for her to say our whiting frozen, the porgy ($18) was frozen, but we do have the $27 snapper thawed out and everything else on the menu is available to order (which was $27 and up).
First suggestion: if you know a customer has to come in and place an order after 8pm let them know what you don’t have before they get there, so they have the option to choose if they still want to dine/and or order. (Otherwise the customer just wasted gas and time).
Second suggestion: If it’s on the menu it should be available to order from beginning of the day until the kitchen is closed.
Third suggestion: create a way for customers to order online.
While I can appreciate a business an what they have to offer, First impression matters! This experience left a bad taste in my mouth and reminds me of every other popular restaurant in CT that has “delicious food” but cannot always deliver the deliciousness after “certain hours.”
No point of having great food and it’s not...
