I have been to this location on several occasions, and the food is pretty good. The taste has been pretty consistent and food is always freshly prepared. Their food is reasonably priced and the lemonades are amazing. The only reason why they're receiving four stars is due to their lack of customer service.
As previously stated, my only gripe is the customer service. On two separate occasions, the owner's younger brother (unsure of his name) has been very rude, ignorant, and disrespectful to customers and even workers. I have personally witnessed him yelling and arguing with a lady who was a customer, which was very unprofessional and uncomfortable to watch. He talks about his black customers to other customers by generalizing all âblack peopleâ by using negative stereotypes. He belittles his workers by talking to them disrespectfully as he is superior to his workers. Demanding them to do things in an aggressive tone and/or matter. Witnessing all of this has turned me off from coming to this establishment. Iâm not sure if he realizes their business is located in a prominently black community and black people are the ones who support him and buy from him. It saddens me to witness him carry on and belittle his own people this way.
Also, on one occasion, my partner and I order two meals (multiple fish shrimps fries) and was given two small half-filled containers of tarter sauce and requested if we could have more since that wasnât enough for our meals. He gave us two more small containers and says to us, ânext time Iâll have to charge youâ. Which left a bitter taste in my mouth and I was thrown aback by his statement.
This type of behavior is unacceptable. I would rather my review focuses mainly on their food, and it saddens me to leave this review, and hopefully, the owners see this and make changes immediately. This review was not left to bash a black-owned business because I always support my own people.
My suggestion is to have the original guy (brother) to take over again. The service was better and he was very professional. The first time I went the food was very good . No problem. The 2nd time I went it wasnât as good as the first time . It was ok. My daughter threw her plate away . What ticked me off was I placed my order . Then I a friend of the cook came in after me. The cook said out loud while Iâm standing there â Iâm going to get you out here â meaning he got his order before me and came in after me . So I had to wait longer to get my food. That pissed me off . So ok I didnât say anything. The 3rd time I went in there I ordered and the cook had to run out to get change. She left the young girl that takes the orders to hold it down while she ran out . I heard her say I got 2 pieces of fish cooked all ready . I ordered a large fish and shrimp dinner. The shrimp were smaller than usual and she overcooked them. They tasted like rubber . She put the fish that was cooked already on my plate instead of making me fresh fish. The fish was warm and hard. I was going to call but for what ? To complain and possibly get cursed out. Nah they just wonât get my business anymore. This is why I cannot deal with neighborhood businesses sometimes. You try to support and then you get treated a certain way when they donât know you or are familiarized with you . It was 3 different cooks each time I went there .    Read moreI came in today around 1pm and ordered the 2 catfish, 6 pc shrimp combo. The man with the locs took my order, and made my food. He seemed nice at first, however once I got home I immediately opened my food and took a bite of the fish and noticed it was pink and gray and had worms in it. I called the restaurant to inform them how disgusted I was of this discovery. The lady on the phone told me she would be disgusted to, and to bring back the meal and not worry about my cab fare. Upon arriving back to the restaurant, I told the man who took my order and made the meal that this was not okay. He didnât even acknowledge me nor did he apologize, he just called âBOâ to handle me. She didnât apologize neither she immediately asked whereâs the worm? I showed her the worm she said this is not a worm itâs just undercooked. I responded it, it being undercooked doesnât make the situation better. Then she asked how much was my cab fare. I told her it was $32.94 there and back. I spent nearly $65 going home and coming back. She gave me the $17 back for the meal and $15 towards the cab. Now I was going to just brush the issue off but their nonchalant behavior deserves a review.
I do not recommend eating here and I pray I donât get sick from this.
