So I got curious about this place after I noticed some curious reviews left under the Chipotle that opened in this area. After looking up the folks who posted the reviews, I found that they were the owners of this business (east coast street tacos) and thought, ok - I’d like to support a smaller business! It’s probably better than a chain like Chipotle, right? WRONG. I ordered 2 ā€œgrilledā€ chicken tacos, 1 ā€œgrilledā€ shrimp taco and a side of rice and beans. This food simply does not taste good but I’m not surprised seeing as it appears the folks who own this establishment do not hail from the culture they are doing a catastrophic job of representing. The rice was a carrot shade of orange and the beans were overdone with scant flavor. The shade of the rice signified the use of something with way too much food coloring (a very cheap sazon?) and the taste was synthetic with absolutely no depth. The tacos were overpowered by pickled onions and that’s only because there was nothing to balance that flavor due to a lack of seasoning in the meat (ā€œgrilledā€ chicken but definitely no signs of char so probably not grilled). The shrimp also had no signs of char and tasted like they were flipped a couple of times in a pan. The tortillas were decent in that they weren’t soggy and held their shape! I see how they were trying to elevate their packaging and I’m not sure if they’re aiming to be sustainable because the tacos came in a cardboard box but the tacos were propped up by a plastic mold. Convenient but wasteful in a time when we should all be trying to do a bit better in this realm. Y’all may think I’m doing too much with this review but I thought these owners had some testicular fortitude to promote their product under a nearby business when their product is truly terrible. Chipotle (when done right) is fresh and sustainable and admirably consistent. The owners of East Coast Street Tacos have some work to do on these menu items before trying to attract more customers because this is some of the worst food I’ve ever had which is astonishing for this area of New York.

One day passing through Brooklyn with my boyfriend, we decided to stop here and get something to eat. We saw the menu and it looked so good we couldn’t wait to eat. It was about a 30 minute wait because they were making the food fresh. When we received the food and began to eat in the car, it was TERRIBLE! My boyfriend had chicken empanadas and they were sooo greasy and the texture was unlike any empanada I’ve ever seen or tasted. We also ordered loaded nachos to share which were COLD!! We ate the food as soon as it came out so we were confused to taste Lukewarm/ cold nachos with cheese and meat on it. Lastly, I ordered 3 tacos for $12 which was a great deal. I ordered shrimp , beef and a pork taco and was disappointed again: the shrimp taco tasted like artificial shrimp and the beef was flavorless and greasy. The ONLY thing that was great to me was the pork taco: it was tasty and prepared well. This food didn’t taste that fresh at all for such a long wait to receive our ā€œfreshlyā€ prepared food. I was highly upset and disappointed especially since this was my first meal of the day and I spent so much money in total for our food. I will never come back again. Sorry, but I do not recommend coming here to eat. I only got a picture of my tacos which is why there is only 1 picture.

Came her after work for Taco Tuesday because it's in my neighborhood. 3 tacos for $12 bucks isn't bad; but certain proteins are extra $1 up-charge. So I opted for shrimp, grilled chicken, and fish: around $16 bucks not bad at all. I added the large frozen sangria for $15 yikes all together and came around to $34 bucks. The inside decor is nice with plenty of seating space. The service was quick, I ordered inside, and my tacos were brought to me outside. As I waited, I sipped on my sangria, and it was really good. I was glad I got the large, I only wished I had more of the orange instead of red; but it's hittin'. The grilled chicken taco is pulled chicken and not actually grilled but good. The fish taco was a huge piece of fish that is well fried, not oily, very light. The shrimp was also good.. all of the tacos had the toppings with a little bit of spice and good portion inside a corn tortilla, and I can not complain. I was hoping for a taco Tuesday deal, but the price of 3 tacos is doable. I will definitely go back, and this might be my new spot for taco Tuesdays.

I wrote this long review, & it got deleted somehow. But let me just say, I spent $80 (plus a $3.00 tip), & I was disappointed. The food was cold, & it wasn't that tastey. The Sangria was just okay. I was expecting so much more.I ordered quasidias, tacos, nachos & empanadas. My $83 could've been spent elsewhere. Honestly, I'm a little upset, because I hate wasting money. 05/30/22. I gave it another shot, & the food does taste a little better. I ordered, to have the food delivered, & the only complaint I have, is that my food was cold.. So I'll give them three stars, instead of two. Update: I went here on Saturday July 16, 2022. Idk who made the tacos (ground beef) that day, but they were delicious. The food should taste the same all the time. But for the most part, the food here is good. So, I do think they deserve four stars now. Keep up the good work guys! Adding margaritas to the menu would be really nicešŸ™‚, oh & giving free sour cream with the tacos, would be nice as well. That's what they do at most Mexican restaurants. Oh, & the young man who works there, most of the time, is really so kind & sweet. Sometimes, the young lady (who doesn't speak English well) has a bit of an attitude. Update - 11/16/22.I love Mexican cuisine. And I was loving this spot. But SOMETHING happened! Something BAD. Let's start with the ground beef tacos. Supposedly, hard shell. The tacos was mushy, broken up, & soft. Next, the salsa, was soft & mushy, like mashed potatoes, & way too spicy. Their salsa, use to be chunky (the way salsa should be prepared) , a little bitter (lime flavored), & a little sweet. It was delicious. And last, but not least, the burritos. My son said, there smaller than before, & donetaste as good. A few more things changed, that I don't care to mention. Either, they got new owners, & /or new cooks. Either way, the food is horrible! HORRIBLE!!! Two stars from me..12/12/22. I placed an online order for three ground beef tacos, Chips & salsa, & a shrimp burrito. The tacos barely had in meat in them, & they didn't send me any salsa. Instead, I got some brown guacamole. I've given these ppl chance, after chance. NO MORE!! I'M DONE!!! I would like to speak to the owner, & let him know what's going on at his business. I met him one day, & he seemed pretty nice. And another day, I ordered chips & salsa, & the chips were all broken up, not one single whole nacho. Why would you serve this to anyone? WHY?!!! šŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø 07/31/23: This place has made a complete turn around. The food is delicious, & fresh. The margaritas & sangrias are good as well. The staff is nice & friendly. This is my new go to...

ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…ā˜† Flavor That's Worth the Wait!

Let me start by saying this: the Handrolled Burrito with Extra Grilled Chicken at this Brooklyn spot is a burrito that nails the fundamentals. Yes, the wait stretched to 24 minutes (I clocked it—7:53 to 8:17), but every bite made up for it.

The Burrito: Imagine tender, smoky grilled chicken—so moist it’s almost hard to believe—paired with fluffy, well-seasoned rice. The beans? Just right: neither dry nor overly soft, providing the ideal base for the fresh pico de gallo’s zing and the bright flecks of cilantro. But the real highlight might be the pickled Mexican cabbage—tangy, crisp, and bringing just the right popping contrast to the richer components. Even better, the tortilla held up impressively, remaining sturdy despite all that juicy goodness, serving as a warm, slightly charred wrap that kept each ingredient in place.

The Venue: Clean, lively, and buzzing with energy. Bachata rhythms kept me tapping my toes in line, while colorful murals (featuring local Brooklyn landmarks) and warm pendant lighting gave the space a cozy, artsy vibe. It’s the sort of place you want to hang out in—if your burrito doesn’t completely steal your attention first.

The Service: Appreciate the cashier who helped track down my order at the 19-minute mark. Despite the rush (there were easily 7+ customers), she was kind and quick to assist. Pro tip: if you’re impatient like me, maybe check in around 12 minutes next time—but trust me, the wait is fleeting compared to the burrito’s lasting impression.

Verdict: A 24-minute wait for a burrito this satisfying? Worth it. Come for the handrolled flavor harmony, stay for the vibes. I’ll absolutely be back—with a little extra patience (and maybe a side of those yucca fries I spotted on...
