Read moreI am giving one star based on an isolated experience. Up until this point my other experiences for pastries, pies, and cookies would be 4 stars. This however, was a very disappointing experience. I called and asked if they did specialty cakes and they said yes. I was given the email address of the man who makes the cakes, and was told to send pictures of what I was looking for. Below i posted pictures of what I wanted and what I received. I wanted a cookie monster cake with chocolate sponge and vanilla cream and chocolate chip filling designed with the outside looking exactly like the picture, with the exception of my son's name being different than the one shown. Not only did what I receive look nothing like what I asked for, but everyone of my guests (21 people) hated it including myself husband and two kids. It was beyond sweet, the sponge cake was dry and did not taste like chocolate. The buttercream on the outside was pure sugar and they made it cheap with a sheet cake picture instead of hand drawn like I had asked. I paid 125 for the cake upfront and didn't go with my husband to pick it up the morning of, because the gentleman making the cake assured me I would be so happy he would make it perfect. I am really not happy about this at all. I was hoping for so much more!! If I wanted a sheet cake I would have gone to carvel for half...
Read moreNeeded a really nice cake and had heard good things about this bakery. From the outside the location is ready for a cosmetic update, inside was far more reassuring... every cake was beautifully decorated beyond my expectations. A little pricey, however based on looks it seemed worth it, I purchased a black forest cake. They asked if I wanted anything written in the cake, I needed Happy Birthday...it was an extra charge to buy a flat piece of chocolate that they wrote on. Thank goodness it had such strong presentation value as unfortunately the cake itself was disappointingly dry! If I lived in the area I would have brought the remaining half cake back for them to see themselves, but they had already closed and our gracious hostess said it was a lovely gesture as she dropped it in the bin. Maybe an off day, maybe I should have asked when it was made, I've heard good things and they are still in business over the years, others must have better experiences, just not for me...
