Had heard very good things, so my wife and I wanted to try it. Sadly, this review is mixed, because there were unfortunately some very poor aspects of this place.
To start, they don’t have a drink menu. It didn’t appear as though they had beer- definitely no taps. I had a sangria, which tasted as though it came from a bottle. My wife was pleased with her Pinot Grigio. The breads and spreads that came out first were all excellent, and obviously very fresh.
We ordered a shrimp appetizer which was outstanding. The shrimp was clearly not frozen, which is always a plus. The negative- a staff member came to the table, and put his hands on me to ask a question, and patted me on the back as he walked away. Completely unprofessional- you NEVER put hands on a customer. We aren’t friends. You don’t know me. Unacceptable.
My wife ordered Chicken Marsala, which she said was delicious. I ordered the Parmagiana Platter. It was not horrible, but nothing special. Considering the price, I expected much better. The meatball was flavorless and overcooked. The sausage and veal were hard to cut, and the eggplant was excellent. The accompanying pasta was over cooked and the sauce bland.
After dinner, we each had a cappuccino, which was very good.
Another tremendous turn off was that the entire staff were walking around and sitting at the bar, and/or front entrance on their cell phones. I get that it’s Sunday night, and slow, but have a sense of professionalism in front of your clientele.
Restaurants that serve good food are a dime a dozen. But often times, it’s the experience that brings you back. Professionalism is part of that experience, and this place...
Read moreAfter reading so many positive reviews. I gave this place a try. I hope the owners read this because they need to address these issues or they will unfortunately lose business. There is plenty of parking. When me and my friend walked in the restaurant at around 2:45pm on a beautiful Sunday afternoon to get lunch there was no hostess to great us.The restaurant was not busy at all. Finally they sit us down after we had to ask someone and had to ask to have menu brought to us after they sat us down. They were under staffed. The bartender became our waiter. He was polite and took our order. They gave us a bread basket and some spreads which was very appetizing. We ordered Jumbo Shrimp cocktail as appetizer. Shrimps were ok. We ordered Panini’s Grilled chicken with fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers and prosciutto. They gave us toasted Italian bread with grilled chicken and everything else inside the sandwich was ice cold. The service was 2 stars at best. The staff could not speak English to well other than the bar tender. There was no manager as I asked for one and nobody seemed to care on what there supposed to be doing. No one ever came to check on the table. We always had to flag someone down mind you the restaurant was not busy. Overall I was very disappointed on the service & food and...
Read moreSO pleasantly surprised. In Staten Island, Italian Restaurants are a dime a dozen so I didn't really think much of it.
I met my parents to help them pick out some kitchen renovations items at a nearby location and we wanted to grab food after. My dad spotted this restaurant and I figured it would just be another restaurant.
First, you get greeted with a bread basket that really wowed me. You get focaccia, rolls, and other varieties of bread that are all delicious and come paired with olive oil, an eggplant dip, bruschetta and butter. Maybe its my family but a bread basket like this really excited us all. Then we saw the recommended $40 per person pre-fix- what? In this economy.. too good to be true. But it wasn't! I got a Caesar salad, mozzarella and carozza, eggplant parm with potato croquette and broccoli and two cannolis and two cookies for dessert with coffee. We were all stuffed and it was all delicious.
Not to forget, the staff was great as well- all were so sweet to my 2-year old daughter especially our server, Melissa. She saw she was shy but worked to get her out of her shell and even brought her crayons and giving her a lot of attention. besides that, she was attentive, helpful and the whole meal ran smoothly because of her.
I live in NJ but I hope to...
