Nicotra Grown Organic Rooftop Farm — Attraction in New York

When I realized that this building had a "Farm Rooftop" I was surprised how much they've kept it preserved. I looked this up online it looked kind of small but I didn't know that it was this big! 😀🌻😯 The tour guide told us how they grew it and said: They have a truck with a big tube that was used to blow soil onto the ground in place for the plants to grow. They have all kinds of plants and vegetables like: lettuce, basil, squash, tomatoes, sunflowers, lavender, wheat, cucumbers, daisies and much more.🍅🥕🌽🥒🌽🌾🌻🌷🌺🪴 I asked them if they grow watermelon. 🍉 They didn't, but they like the idea 💡 I gave them. It was 10,000 lbs of what they grew on the top of the building. 🏢 They have a couple of art sculptures in the area to give it more of a picture. 🖼️ They also do yoga in the area which is crazy to me. We visited the farm yesterday with our school group from Silver Lake Prep, and it was a fantastic experience. The tour was engaging and educational—our students asked lots of questions and learned a great deal about both gardening and art. Afterwards, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at one of their two restaurants, where 100% of the proceeds support charitable causes. Attended a school trip with Silver Lake Prep. The children enjoyed the trip and seeing farming in their community. It’s impressive that the space turns out 10,000 lbs of produce. There was a nice combination of vegetables and flowers that made the space very pleasant.
