As a Garnacha Bite regular, I already know how delicious their burritos are. (The blackened chicken and homemade salsas truly can't be beat anywhere in Brooklyn.)

But this past weekend, I learned about the generosity, heart and dedication of the Garnacha Bite team.

I reached out to Garnacha to help cater a party. I needed to feed 40 people on a Sunday, and wanted a "build your own burrito" bar with Garnacha ingredients. They went above and beyond at every opportunity.

First of all, Garnacha doesn't usually open until 2 p.m. on Sundays, but I needed the food by 1. So they came in to work 2 HOURS EARLY just to fulfill my order.

What they gave me was a feast fit for a small village. Four trays of blackened chicken, four trays of grilled chicken, the biggest trays of rice and black beans you've ever seen, two trays of corn, tubs of their amazing salsas — and they threw in their homemade tortilla chips for free. Not to mention: everything was PIPING hot, could not have been fresher. I had 20 more people show up to the party than anticipated, so about 60 people altogether, and we still had so much leftover food we had to donate some — and STILL have ample leftovers for the week for ourselves, and our friends!

When we picked up the food, the whole Garnacha team was there to help load up the car. They were all warm and kind, seemingly excited to be giving us something so delicious.

I’m extremely disappointed with this place for several reasons.

I used to order online and would make minor modifications to my orders, like many people do. However, they either completely ignore the changes or don’t bother reading the instructions. Initially, this didn’t bother me too much since I don’t have any allergies.

But this time, I decided to visit the restaurant with my partner because I wanted to get what I expected, and I had also recommended it to her. The issue is that she’s vegan. The first thing she asked was whether the rice and beans were vegan. The counter staff admitted that they’re made with chicken broth. I was shocked. Why would you label something as vegan when it’s clearly not? It’s unbelievably careless and misleading. At least they were honest when we asked, but this level of oversight is...

I’ve ordered from this place many times, 3x+ per week, in the past. Mostly pickup. Always the largest burrito on the menu, usually two. I stopped when it routine had a disproportionate amount of rice to the rest of the listed ingredients. I mean the rice buried everything else no matter where you sliced it. I decided to give the place a try again after a year or so and what appears to be several renames and/or extended closures. Still the same issue. I prefer the steak today and the blackened chicken. The blackened chicken was better but the steak was rage inducing. For $15 dollars I’d appreciate better ratios than a wrap of rice with a sprinkle of everything else.
