For a very long time, I avoided this place and the one in Manhattan because I had reservations about eating intestine (which is what they specialize in and their namesake). One of my friends told me that it was one of their favorite spots and in addition to the intestines they had other menu items like Korean bbq (which made sense).
One day I agreed to meet her and another friend for dinner on a busy Saturday night. The seating area is quite spacious and similar to most Korean bbq spots, there is a vent that comes down right over the table top grill. To the left of the main dining area, there is what seems like a VIP spot as it is two tables connected in an enclosed area. I was very surprised we got that spot but I definitely was not complaining,
Since it was my first time dining at this particular establishment, I was unsure of what to get. The menu is electronic (you scan a QR code on the table) and once you have made your selections it is sent to the kitchen. My friend ordered their usual which is mixed plate of fatty spicy intestines and half small intestine (no spice). The spice actually adds flavor. The small intestines had a bit of a gritty taste.
The Korean bbq platter they offered consisted of three non marinated meats which is supposed to be food for a couple of people. Since this is not an all you can eat establishment, each dish has a specific cost. The bbq set was tasty and convenient despite the price.
They have a ramen dish that I tend to order each time (as I feel it is comfort food). You can request the spice level be toned down. A new menu item that was introduced were these delicious fried cheese balls that make good appetizers.
For the rice they have specials options like a brisket fried rice that comes in a stone pot. The portion is good for at least two people. But the very special rice dish can be requested after you finish the intestines. They used the same surface to cook fried rice with cheese and seaweed and that can be considered a second meal in its own. Highly recommend!
If you have room in your stomach and not out off by raw meat, their beef tartare is a great pick as well for sharing. The seasoning they used for the meat is quite tasty.
This is an excellent spot to eat at with a group of friends because due to the portion sizes everything is sharable. They have different brands of alcohol (beer and soju) as well as other flavored drinks.
Our server was a very nice lady name J who was very attentive and hardworking. She was very friendly and welcoming to myself and my guests.
The other staff that helped us were all very polite as well and it is usually a very good experience as I have gone back to dine in on a few occasions after my...
Read moreIf you’re craving authentic Korean BBQ and looking for a place that offers both amazing food and a cozy atmosphere, Gopchang Story is the spot to check out. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by a warm and inviting vibe that makes you feel right at home.
The star of the show here is, of course, the gopchang, which is perfectly seasoned and grilled to a crispy, savory perfection. Whether you’re new to gopchang or a seasoned fan, the way they prepare it will make you appreciate the dish even more. The rich, flavorful meat has the perfect balance of crispiness on the outside and tenderness inside, and it pairs beautifully with their house-made dipping sauces.
But the menu doesn't stop there. Banchan(side dishes) are fresh, varied, and a great complement to the main dish. The kimchi is particularly fantastic, tangy and fermented just right. The soju and beer options are excellent, making it easy to enjoy with friends, whether you're there for a casual meal or a night of indulgence.
The service is another highlight—attentive and friendly, making sure you have everything you need, and they’ll even help you with grilling the gopchang if you're not sure how to do it perfectly. The portion sizes are generous, so it's definitely a place you can visit with a group and share a hearty meal without breaking the bank.
Overall, Gopchang Story is a top-notch spot for Korean BBQ lovers. Great food, great service, and an overall warm and welcoming environment make it a place you’ll want to return to again and again. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to dive into authentic Korean flavors with a...
Read moreThe service here was great, staff was very kind! I’ve been to the manhattan location before and loved it so I wanted to try the flushing location too. A bit taken aback when I first sat down due to a few differences between the two (nothing too big but definitely noticeable- not necessarily in a negative way though). I really enjoyed the kimchi pancake, it was one of my favourite menu items! We got the cheese balls as well and we weren’t expecting it to come with fries to be honest- these were very mediocre and filling, wasn’t too fond of them to be honest. We got a small serving of the assorted gui as well as a small serving of the large intestines! It was very tasty, I enjoyed it so much, especially the fried rice at the end too, it was so yummy 😌 the frying pan was a bit too hot though & there was a lot of oil (a bit more than usual)- the grilling method causes the meats to cook and burn very quickly- a lot of pieces ended up getting super quickly and we has to turn off the heat ourselves because it was burning so quickly. Fried rice was good- they changed the pan for it took and the small pan was so cute haha. I wish there was kimchi on the side though 🥹 overall good experience although I enjoy the manhattan...
