IHOP — Restaurant in New York

When our party of three arrived, we were not greeted. A few minutes later, we were told to follow a waitress to our table. As I approached the table, the first thing I noticed was an extremely dirty and sticky smear on the table. I asked the young waitress if she would please wipe it down. She came back with a grayish towel (that looked like something you would use to wipe your car tires), and leaned over to see where are the smears on the table. She proceeded to wipe only the spots where it was dirty. Traces of the towel were left on the table. After that, each one of us ordered. I ordered medium rare Sirloin Tips with no mushrooms, eggs over easy, and hashbrowns. When the order came, the first thing I noticed was that EVERYTHING was well done. The hashbrowns were burnt, the steak was extremely cooked and greasy, and the eggs were no where near over easy. As a matter of fact, they were harder than the steak. Immediately she knew she had messed up before I even opened my mouth. She took the order back, and apologized profusely. I had to re-remind her that I didnt want mushrooms, and she rushed back to the cook. When the meal finally arrived, she said "He said (referring to cook) that he cooked this the amount of time for medium rare. Tell me what you think". I proceeded to take a bite out of the steak and I couldn't even take a bite out of it! It was like rubber! i spit it back out like an angry french woman. She said, "well, would u like something else?" I thought to myself, I can't believe they can' get a meal right in their own restaurant. The cook was an angry a hole. I was so mad! It took everything out of me not to curse them out. I guess it paid off bc they comped my meal at the end, but the last meal I chose wasn't great, and I was so upset I swore I would never come back. I think I even dreamed about it that night! ugh!...

Food: everything is undercooked. I had to send back the hashbrowns to be cooked because the potato was cooked outside slightly but raw potato on the inside. Eggs were so undercooked I couldn't eat them (I normally don't mind eggs a bit undercooked, but this was beyond that). The steak omelet was a joke. The hash inside is raw! The steak is just a broken-up burger patty. Disappointed. Pancakes are always cooked and done well so you can't go wrong there.

Service: Horrible. There is only one waitress there that is lovely. I forgot her name but she is a white woman with her hair in a ponytail. She was responsive and helpful. She tended to all her tables well because she wasn't busy talking with the rest of the horrible staff. The rest of them, and this was not the first time I've gone here, are utterly disturbingly the worst set of workers I've ever come across. Such attitude and it takes them forever to do anything even when it's not busy. Horrible. The atmosphere is okay. Same as the other ones. Can't stop bad people from sitting behind you anywhere because this is NY so it's fine. Can't be controlled. My husband and I (mixed couple) had a couple (Latino and Latina) who sounded like a first date have a conversation about why they don't like or date black people behind us. It was off-putting but whatever. It's IHOP so what do you expect? We just laughed and...

Bad service, the waitress was unprofessional: We should not live a tip. We asked for water at he beginning. She got us water until the end. We order four coffees and she brought our coffees and not milk. We order 4 coffees so she asked just my sister if she wants milk, she said that she wants half and half. I assumed that she is going to bring regular milk and half and half, because we order 4 coffees for four different people. I asked her for milk, she was questioning why do I want milk! She never asked the rest of the table what we want, she was taking with my sister only. After she getting mad, she got my food and drinks late than the rest of the table. I have to asked another man that work there for the milk, because she didn’t bring the milk until the guy told her again! Very rude. We can felt her negative attitude! I should not live a tip, and tell her about this, but honestly I try to not ruined the lunch with my family. She has to say yes! If I have to pay for the milk I will do that!
