Me and my girlfriend stumbled upon this place for dinner after searching for what to eat while in the Brooklyn Heights area and saw that this place had good reviews and decent prices. I'm giving this restaurant 5 stars mainly because it is very good value.
We ordered assorted tempura for our appetizer, and shared a monkey roll and sushi & sashimi combination. The vegetable tempuras were fried very well and they were crispy. I love the broccoli tempura, as well as the sweet potato tempura. They are also excellent at making shrimp tempura. The monkey roll was also delicious and slightly spicy. I was very surprised at the size of the sushi & sashimi combination. For $20, we received a large dish of fresh sashimi and sushi. The Sushi & Sashimi combo comes with yellowtail, salmon, white tuna, and red tuna sashimi and sushi, and a California roll. It can definitely be shared between two people, but you might want to get another roll(s) to be full. For the final price, $36.25 before tax and tip, this was a great deal for the quality of sashimi/sushi that we got. The fish was very fresh and tasted delicious and the service was great as well. We were also very full by the end.
The ambience of the restaurant is also great and is a good spot for couples and small groups. The place is small, so if you don't like waiting, make sure you come early or make reservations.
Will definitely come back here to try their other sushi. I would like the try the love...
Read moreGo another sushi restaurant. You can eat same quality sushi with better service. My dish should come with peanut sauce according to their menu description but they might have forgotten it. However, the attitude of a server was so impolite when I asked about the sauce. It was quite noisy inside and he just said I don’t hear you. He didn’t even try to hear me. He was just standing far away from me. And when I asked again, he said it doesn’t come with sauce, and we even don’t have any peanut sauce in this restaurant. Huh? But he finally gave me peanut sauce without apologizing. It felt like he just treated me as a picky customer. I I’ve never been tread like that in restaurant. Although there were still foods on our plates, another server kept asking us, are you guys done? There was not busy to the point where they push customers to leave. I basically give generous tips about 20-25% for dinner but I really didn’t want to give tips for them, yet anyway I gave them 18% tips which is too generous for them. I’ve never left online review before , however I can’t utterly stand it. The owner should train servers to have the...
Read moreBased on the nice Google review of 4.4, we decided to pay a visit on a sunny Thursday evening. But it turns out to be the worst sushi we've ever had in NYC.....We were a group of two adults. We ordered Seared Yellow Tail ($10.5), Yaki Udon with Chicken ($14.5), and Monkey Roll (recommended by the waiter $10.95). The Seared Yellow Tail appetizer was soaked up by overloaded sauce. We felt like eating the sauce not the fish. Yaki Udon also had too much sauce came along with it, and made it too salty to eat. The most disappointing part was the Monkey Roll. The rice had too much vinegar and water. It was a very wet rice wrapped by the seaweed paper. The seaweed became as very wet because of the wet rice. Supposedly, each piece of the sushi in the roll is separate from each other. But this time, every piece stuck with the other next to it. This is the worst sushi we've ever had. The only positive part was the waiter's service. He was welcoming and attentive. However, the FOOD was too disappointing. We would not return nor recommend...
