This place was just meh. My group started with the miso soup which was delicious. The karaage was OK, tasted a bit rubbery and reheated. Shrimp tempura roll was alright, the shrimp itself was good but the rice was over cooked. King crab hand roll I won’t recommend. $15 for what seemed to be a quarter-inch strip of imitation crab. The avocado was larger than the piece of crab I received. Drinks are also not worth it here. Very weak in my groups opinion. I actually thought they gave me a mocktail but when I asked they told me there was apparently vodka in my drink? No one in my group could really tell and I didn’t feel anything. We also felt the service wasn’t all the way there. When I asked about my hand roll, because the waiter came by and asked how everything was at the end of the meal but I hadn’t received the hand roll yet, she tried to tell me that hand rolls were typically served at the end of meals which….hasn’t been my experience anywhere else. I also felt like whenever I called them over to order something they seemed frustrated with us.
Also I watched other people/tables get the wrong things even though the restaurant was pretty empty.
Overall just not a great option for sushi in my groups opinion, especially in this area where there is so...
Read moreSushi spots are generally overpriced around NYC, but this one was a bit surprisingly overpriced, offering one piece of sushi for $12+?
Was highly unreasonable - nonetheless, after ordering 6 dishes, we tipped around 15% - the waitress comes back and lets us know that we didn’t tip them enough. So we add some more tips and she returns our money. Soon, as we walked 100 m+ after leaving the store, they send one of their waiters after us asking us to come back and pay tips. We are confused but it turns out that after the second time, she simply returned our change and did not take tips. Anyways, in this case, I am very humiliated and frustrated and I give them their share of tips.
I have never encountered such frugal, cheap service in my life. If someone has made a mistake in collecting tips, just let them be. Having people chase you down for tips is so cheap and embarrassing? Negative experience and I would not come...
Read moreFrom the moment I walked in, I was hit with an overpowering smell of cleaning products — so strong that it completely distracted from the meal. I want to know a restaurant is clean, but I definitely don’t want to smell the cleaning supplies while trying to enjoy sushi.
After being seated, it took a while before anyone took my order. I had the omakase, which was just okay. The included house salad was disappointing — low quality greens and barely any ginger dressing, which is usually the best part.
On top of that, the spicy tuna roll I ordered to go wasn’t spicy AT ALL and included a strange crunchy, fried ingredient that wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the menu.
The most surprising part was being verbally offered a 10% discount for paying cash “tonight.” For an established restaurant chain, that felt strange and a bit sketchy.
Because of the overpowering chemical smell alone, I...
