Gristedes — Local services in New York

The worst anti-customer business I have ever come across! Was standing at the check-out with my credit card in the terminal waiting for it to be accepted and it rejected it and the cashier just stood their with a blank stare and wouldn't help or do anything or even acknowledge that anything was happening! When I waved my hands up and down and said "Hello........" I was treated as if I just insulted her! I was told that it was NOT her fault but it was MY card so it was MY problem. When I approached the manager to complain HE BECAME rude stating that he was in the middle of going to address another customer and that I would have to wait a minute! The other "customer" that he was addressing was a homeless guy who was standing on line and letting everyone else in front of him so I'm sure he was just going to ask him what he was doing. This place ONLY hires rude people and they have NO business sense or customer appreciation! NEVER...

1. Like everyone else says, Prices Are Outrageous

2. The cashier sucks (sometimes you'll get a nice one, sometimes you'll get one thats a grouch).

TO STUDENTS: the sign promotes that you'll receive 10% off if you provide your EHS card if you live across the street. This is not true, they force you to get a Gristedes key card and input your number wrong, so when you go in the next time and input your number/no key card, they tell you, "you're out of luck- go get your card" IT'S 10% let students save their coin!! IDK why the cashier is holding onto the 10% like their life...

The worst. I used to live in North Heights years ago and avoided this place due to the price gouging and weird layout. Today I saw online that they had a specific brand of seltzer I like so I decided to give them another try. Big mistake.

At first I was really impressed with the remodel since my last visit, things make so much more sense now, even though the prices still seem oddly too high. But when I went to check out with my items I encountered extremely rude and hostile treatment by the cashier. I even asked her if I had 'done something wrong to offend her' and she just started arguing with me.

I will never return to this...
