I’ll start off by saying, some waitresses here are very RACIST and are very RUDE! If I could give this place 0 starts I would! I had chosen this spot because of the reviews to go have lunch after my wedding and luckily my sister got there first other wise, I would’ve snapped at this person! This old white guy at the entrance told her she had to wait with a very high tone, after 10 minutes and a whole bunch of empty tables she went to sit down at a spot (she’s pregnant and has a huge belly so she can’t be standing for long periods of time). The same guy approached the table and said they can’t sit there and then said he clearly had given instructions to wait! After yelling at her and her husband as if they were kids he told them another waitress would help them and he sent a Hispanic waitress??? Like, why??? The Spanish waitress said he was very sorry for the other guys attitude but they stood up and left. Luckily they just opened a Tavern 9 months ago a block up this street and we had a blast at this other spot but I would say, AVOID ISLAND COFFEE SHOP, ITS NOT WORTH IT!

I explored some local breakfast spots and stumbled upon a gem that truly deserves attention. The moment I stepped inside, I was hit with a vibrant energy—the place was buzzing! Two enthusiastic women were hustling on the floor while an older gentleman held down the fort behind the counter. With a few folks already waiting for a table, I noticed a lively bar area that added to the atmosphere. Just as it seemed like we’d be waiting, a kind gentleman and his son left, and my plus one and I happily swooped in to claim their seats. Our server wasted no time getting down to business. We ordered up two steaming coffees, a refreshing water, a delicious mushroom and spinach omelette, and crispy home fries, topped off with a fluffy waffle. Each bite was a delightful reminder of just how fresh everything tasted. Would I recommend this spot? Absolutely! If you’re looking to support a small local business with great food and a lively vibe, this is the place to be! Also you must pay with cash they do not accept card or apple pay.

Went here on Valentine’s Day for brunch with my (senior) mom. It was busy and we waited about 15 min for a table. The place is a typical old fashioned diner…. basically a room with booths. The grill is in the front so you can see them making your breakfast. But, you don’t come here for the ambiance you come for good quality, well priced food. We had pancakes (light and fluffy) french toast (yummy) and eggs and turkey bacon (delicious). Coffee is strong. Be aware - everything comes with a side of butter! Service is good by Staten Island standards (my SI peeps know what I mean) attentive but not overly so, friendly, but not overly so. Our breakfast was $25 bucks, very reasonable for all we got. Would definitely go back!

Wanted to share an experience I had this morning. Went to the Island Coffee shop on Manor road this morning for breakfast (George’s). My friend ordered French toast. The order came and the French toast was burnt. She sent it back and waited for a new order. When the new order came it was raw. When she sent that order back for the second time the busboy looked at it and without saying a word to him he looked at it and said it was raw. ļæ¼She waited for her order and was never served except for a bill for the coffee and a very small juice which comes with the order. It was almost the same price as the entire breakfast would have been. Now here’s the kicker. On the way out George the owner who didn’t have the decency to even look at me yelled out ā€œNever come back here againā€. I have been a faithful patron for the last 26 years having breakfast, lunch and dinner there. I even went there during the Covid outbreak to help support him. That’s one hell of a way to treat a repeat customer. Adiosļæ¼ George. I wouldn’t go back if it was free. You should try apologizing to your customers if...

Very racist at this establishment..

I had called to place an order for me and some of the school staff for pickup and was hung up on twice. I guess she didn't have any patience and didn't want to answer questions regarding the menue. I decided to drive over there to find out who the rude person was, upon my arrival I was met by an Hispanic waitress who knew exactly who I was talking about because she was present during this encounter over the phone. She made a face as if to say this is that waitress normal behavior. So the waitress told me to speak to owner.

As I waited for the owner so I could explain the situation, the waitress that hung up on me overheard my conversation and proceeded to try and clean it up before I spoke to the owner. The owner finally got to me and as I was explaining what had happened, he proceeded to interrupt me and say he didn't believe what I was saying, so I decided to leave and take my money elsewhere.

I will never patron this establishment strictly off of how I was dismissed and pretty much...
